Yea. That poll is kinda of stupid. I don't see how that poll can be so much different from the other polls? :dunno:

Remember that the computers were really meant to "work" by the END of the season... if UF wins out, they will be right up there, don't worry about it. The first BCS standings are rarely accurate.

Yes.. And the SEC is the best conference by far.

You SEC guys think it is your inherent right to make this ridiculous claim year after year but, this season, the strongest conference absolutely has to be the Big 12. You want to talk about defense but I don't think many SEC teams would have much luck stopping the likes of some of the monster offenses you see in the Big 12. I'd like to see how your beloved Gators would do against Texas' vastly-underrated defense! Oh how I wish that, instead of slating a bunch of fucking patsies until the conference schedules kick in, ALL major conferences would put some other serious conference contenders on their early-season schedules instead. The way it is now, we all have to wait until bowl time to see how one conference stacks up against another. To say the SEC is the best conference "by far" is just total arrogance....and oh-so-typical of SEC fans in general. I already despise the SEC....thanks for pouring gasoline on the fire with your comments!

Talk about lack of respect....the Longhorns beat both Oklahoma and Missouri in consecutive weeks to move up to #1 and not even a mention by any of you? WTF is up with that????

Nobody took this team seriously going into the season but I believe this young and incredibly talented Texas team is actually better than the one that won the national title with Vince Young a couple of years ago. They are most certainly more balanced and much better defensively. Colt McCoy is blowing all of the other Heisman candidates away. Ogbannaya, Shipley, Cosby, Orakpo....none of these guys were even on the radar when the season began and now all of them are playing like world-beaters. Keep on ignoring them if you want but this is a very dangerous team.

Hats off to Mack Brown. I'll admit he isn't the greatest strategist on game-day, but no one can touch him when it comes to recruiting. His assistants are outstanding....Muschamp in particular has elevated the defense to the highest level and Davis has the offense clicking on all eight cylinders. Best staff in the nation in my estimation.

Of course, it's college football so always expect the unexpected but I don't see anyone beating the Texas Longhorns if they continue to play at the level they have the last 2 weeks. They are head-and-shoulders the best team in the NCAA. Anyone who wants to argue can bring it on.

Texas will stay #1 after smashing Missouri tonight.

Hook 'em!!!!

See my quote above. Texas is no doubt the best team in the country right now.

Question: Ate the Big 12 offenses THAT good, or are the defenses THAT bad (other than Texas)??

The Longhorns just keep rolling along....although I think Oklahoma State is WAY underrated. I was very impressed with their defense and their running game. Looks like the vaunted Sooners might be the 2nd best team in their state after all!

As for Texas, all they have to do is go to Lubbock next week to face (and defeat) their FOURTH top 10 team in a row. Won't be easy but, hell, what an impressive string of victories for Mack Brown and his boys if they pull it off.

It will be war on the plains of west Texas next week.

2 questions if anyone can answer...

1) Is Joe Pa dead? At the end of the Penn State game they had a music montage of him. It made me feel like he has passed on.

2) Is Noter Dame headed to become a national champion contender in a year or two? The past 3 years they have supposedly had the best recruiting classes. When is that going to start paying off? Or will they never be able to compete with the likes of USC/Ohio State?

1) No, but Ohio State's Championship dreams for this year are! :D
2) Well they've shown marked improvement from last year's season. They might get some hype next year, depending on how they finish this year.

Well on the 1st, I did not expect them to via for the BCS Championship.

On the 2nd, Well being at the bottom, anything is a improvement..

Kudos to Texas. I hope the Tide can keep it rolling and play them for the MNC; because even if PSU wins out, they do not deserve to play for the title this year.
