It Just Doesn't Matter! It is like saying DUKE basketball is great.ya know back to back, then nothing for 10 yrs..maybe the K will matter.NAW!

I think Booty is a bust.

I disagree he's a bust, but I have been saying for some time that he's over-rated.

the Trojans were at least 2 TD faves

Yes, they were favored by 21

I fully expect UofW back in the polls soon with their talent and coaching.

Hmmm. I kinda doubt this. Maybe next year, though.

I watched a good bit of the LSU-Tulane game and came away unimpressed with the way LSU played compared to the rest of their games.

Agreed, but you gotta figure they were looking forward to Florida next week.

Suck it, chicken worshippers!

 You tell 'em, hedonis

While I don't think it's completely meaningless by any stretch I think the importance of margin of victory is exaggerated the way most of the polls and the media handle it.

WOW.so playing Tulane in your home state equates to not covering the spread in the state of Washington in your own conference? go freaking figure!

LSU had a tough first half but knocked out Tulane in the second half; thats not a lackluster win, that's man-ing up and doing the job.

USC, even with injuries and mistakes, could not take out Washington like the Trojans did to Nebraska. They STILL won, so they are still #1 in My personal poll. USC has HUGE games left, and now USC-Cal looks like it could settle a spot in national championship game.

Satyr you do realize that Tulane has been terrible this year. The week before, they barely manged to beat 1AA SELU (Southeastern Louisiana). I watched a good bit of the LSU-Tulane game and came away unimpressed with the way LSU played compared to the rest of their games.

This is how I felt about USC-Washington; The Trojans looked great against Nebraska IN Lincoln... then they allow the Huskies to stay in the game, a team that just lost 2 in a row, to Ohio State and UCLA, by pretty big margins. Sometimes a bad team plays tough for a quarter or two; it happens. But The Better Team should wallop the bad team, and that is what LSU did in the second half. A lot of teams on Saturday didn't do that, and slid in the polls.

Hmmm. I kinda doubt this. Maybe next year, though.

Yeah...not this year; I meant in the coming seasons.

I basically agree with all of Satyricon's points. I see Washington becoming the new power in the Pac starting next year. Locker and Louis Rankin are studs. Their Front 7 is good--back 4 look suspect. I really thought UW's throwback unis were AWESOME too. Mostly throwbacks make me :weeping: or

Not to say that USC is going to be replaced at the top...I just came away more impressed with UW and Willingham than I did with USC. Injuries clobbered USC--to lose your starting Center and Starting Right Guard on the same play in the first half?? That's tough for any team--even mighty LSU.

Florida really hosed it. Auburn nailed them last year and got them again. It's hard to really say "we were caught looking ahead at LSU" when you prepare for a team that smacked you around last season.

I think USC's big problem and what will cost them a shot at the NC is John David Booty. He's simply awful. Last season--Smith and Jarrett covered for his crappy accuracy. To see Booty's throws in Seattle, no rain, little wind, no sun in the eyes, and to see him miss badly was unsettling, to say the least. He is fine on the side throws or a throw to the TE--Fred Davis. Every other throw I close my eyes and wait for the crowd sound. He has no accuracy on the long ball at all. He also gets too many balls swatted at the line. Why a Defense bothers rushing their DEnds against the Trojans--who knows. Keep those two guys back and just tell them to stick their hands up when Booty throws..and it'll be a swat. Booty also is supposed to be lighter and faster and he can run away from the rush. But he can't throw on the run--something Leinart and Carson were great at.

Maybe the Shotgun would help Booty "see the field" better? But SC REFUSES to even put a Shotgun play into the playbook. Gee the shotgun might've helped a second string center out on the road in a hostile environment when the starting C went out.

Question for Satyricon--do you think there is a situation (other then injury) where Booty gets benched? Me--I don't think Booty can do anything that awful to get benched. I think Coach Carroll promised him the job until he graduates.

Separate question for everyone...is there anyone that's even worthy of mentioned for THe Heisman this year? I think the Heisman should be mothballed this season. Nobody has proven worthy of consideration thus far.

On paper, Booty isn't THAT awful:

CMP ATT YDS CMP% YDS/A TD INT RAT

89 135 875 65.9 6.48 10 4 138.9

But, its not Heisman material at all. He just looks... uncomfortable. The only way Booty sits barring injury is if he tosses a lot of interceptions against a ranked team. IF THEN. Carroll lets his player fight for the starting job, so if you're freshman you CAN beat out a senior, or beat someone out in practice. I think Booty nails his practices against an AWESOME USC defense ( 7 will be in the pros) and that's why he starts over Mark Sanchez, who'll prolly start next year.

As for Heisman, I figured Florida's Tebow, McFadden at Arkansas, Brohm at Louisville, WVU's White and Slaton were in the running...now? Cal's Jackson and Oregon's Dixon look awesome, too. The Kentucky QB Woodson looks like he belongs on the list, too...when there's no clear cut player, there's usually a group that play extremely well; more fun to watch on gameday!

I find interesting everyone beating on the Big Ten for being a mediocore division...

USC vs Washington 27-24

Ohio State vs Washington 33-14

Washington is by no means a Pac 10 powerhouse and Ohio State is not the best #4 team I have seen. USC struggled to beat Pac 10 rival Washington. Ohio State dominated them..

sometimes conference rivals play harder. who do you think washington would rather beat? ohio state was a cash game. the buckeyes were brought in for a game that would make money for the school. usc on the other hand is a hated pac-10 rival. washington was probably chomping at the bits for usc.

Oh do I hate the Big 10 Network! Well, I'd probably like it if Comcast carried it! Notre Dame sucks....they suck hard! I can barely watch. IL/Penn state....Hmm, love to watch that game...no chance. I flip on the radio...but no luck at all, blacked out! This sucks!

All sports need to have a moratorium where they realize that in this day in age that blackouts are pretty stupid and illogical. Not that they were ever great to begin with. I don't know a single person that is going to go to a sporting event when it isn't sold out just because it isn't on television. All they do is piss a lot of people off. It shows how much they think of the bottom line and how they want to squeeze every last dollar they can even if it’s not significant to the detriment of making the fans happy.

this is one the greatest college football seasons i've ever seen, :)
and how about Jim Harbaugh. :1orglaugh

#2 USC loses to 41-point-underdog STANFORD, 24-23!

The craziest college football season continues! Awesome!
Another shake-up in the top ten!

At this moment, USC trailing Stanford 24-23  :D

Made a prime bet on Ohio State -7 @ Purdue. Hang on, Buckeyes!

A bit of Irish luck finally surfacing: UCLA is left without any passing game as injuries to #1 and #2 quarterbacks leave them with only a totally green walk-on at QB. ND stacking against the obvious run and will win an ugly game of attrition.

i hope this season makes it clear why they need a playoff system. This season is the perfect example...

My new top 10, week 6, in which 3 of the top ten lost:

# 1. LSU (6-0) - The Tigers didn't look great against Florida (now 4-2) for the most part, but they showed what it means to be the number one team in the nation by coming back and winning the game!

# 2. California (5-0) - Moving up after the USC loss and recuperating in a bye week.

# 3. Ohio State (6-0) - Shhh. Don't tell anyone but the Buckeyes are in perfect position for the BSC Title game. They held high-scoring Purdue to SEVEN points!

# 4. South Florida (5-0) - Some polls might have Boston College in this slot but USF has beat 2 ranked opponents and the Eagles only one. I also pick the Bulls here for sheer wow factor; as goes the Bulls, so goes this wacky season.

# 5. Boston College (6-0) - I don't think that the Eagles have been ranked this high since the Flutie Era, and that was years ago.

Okay... this is where ranking the remaining teams becomes hard; do I go with the remaining undefeated? Or strong one-loss teams?

# 6. Oklahoma (5-1) - The one loss thus far is going to haunt them.
# 7. South Carolina (5-1) - Ol' Ball Coach has them Gamecocks in the top 10!
# 8. West Virginia - (5-1) - The Mountaineers get back into the top 10.
# 9. Missouri (5-0) The Tigers just bitchslapped Nebraska and roared their way into My top 10.
#10. Oregon (4-1) - The Ducks over The USC Trojans? YES; it's a case of looking how both teams have won and lost, and Oregon has a slight edge over the Trojans in both cases.

Still undefeated: Kansas, Hawaii, Cincinnati, Arizona State, and Connecticut.

No longer defeated: Notre Dame; for shame UCLA, for shame!

What the fuck is up with them: Nebraska, Rutgers, Louisville, and Arkansas. These teams have better talent than what their records indicate.

What an awesome Saturday!
