The Dark Knight broke the all-time opening

I'd love to see TDK break the record for highest theater run gross. It deserves it better than Titanic. The only reason that got the highest amount is because Leo DiCaprio!!! I mean WTF??? The Dark Knight is an all around great movie and yes Ledger's death is a factor, but not the only one like Titanic.

GOD DAMN IT!!! I still have to wait 3 days to see it. Going IMAX style though, so it should be worth it.

Remember that Simpsons episode when Bart isn't allowed to see the Itchy & Scratchy movie? And everyone at school is going on about how amazing it is and that they've all seen it 3 time's already... That's how I feel with The Dark Knight. I have to hold my ears at work because they won't stop going on about it!!

In Day 11, The Dark Knight surpassed Iron Man to become 2008's highest grossing film plus the superhero sequel cracked the all-time Top 20 in the process. Warner Bros. generated $10.5M on Monday to raise its unbelievable cume to $324.3M which was more than enough to soar past Marvel's metal man which has taken in $315M to date since its early May bow. Knight also climbed to number 18 on the all-time domestic blockbusters chart just ahead of Shrek the Third which banked $321M last summer.

Monday's gross was down 57% from last Monday's towering $24.5M haul. Given its current pace, Knight might be able to reach the $350M mark by the end of its second week of release. That would mean a jump up to number 13 on the all-time list ahead of The Lord of the Rings: The Two Towers by the time the third weekend begins.

As if it hasn't broken enough records, The Dark Knight also became the top-grossing blockbuster in Warner Bros. history surpassing the $317.6M of 2001's Harry Potter and the Sorcerer's Stone. Ticket prices were lower back then, but the new Batman adventure will still be able to zoom past the boy wizard in admissions in the coming days.

The Joker and friends are on course to boost the cume to roughly $390M by the end of this coming weekend and then blast through the $400M mark mid-next week.

Be sure to check back on Wednesday for continued coverage of The Dark Knight's record-breaking box office run.

Damn, this movie is turning into a warlord who's destroying everybody on the battlefield and just surveying the damage. I hope it does knock Titanic down, that's the other movie I can't stand. A Night To Remember was so much better than Titanic.

Hard to believe That titanic grossed 1 billion dollars.

"Titanic" can be kindling for the big crappy movie fire we need to start. I'll toss the non-Nolan Batman movies on the pile first...

And this may very well double that.

That's very unlikely, but I think it will at least beat Return of the King.

Not all that unlikely if you factor in the fact that it's just now opening worldwide. There's still a lot of money that movie is going to make.

Are you serious?!

Look,I love TDK,but it's gonna be a reeeeally tall order to take down a movie that 1) grossed over 1 billion dollars total 2)grossed over 600 million dollar domestically and 3)stayed the number 1 film for 15 fucking weeks in a row!15 weeks!

I just don't see it happening.

I'm pretty sure that a 3rd Batman movie with the Riddler and Catwoman would be superb, might be less raw than Dark Knight but more complex and interesting.

I also think Ra's Al Ghul will be back in the 4th or 5th Batman movie by using a Lazarus Pit.

Bat-Fest will go on with Penguin, Poison Ivy, Catwoman, Riddler, Bane, Mr Freeze, Clayface, Killer Croc and Batgirl & Huntress & Robin. :D

It is very possible, cinema tickets are double the price they were when Titanic came out.

Well, anyway, the Dark Knight still has about $1,500,000,000 to go to match Titanic! Maybe it can, I don't know. It all will rely on the international box office, and for a Batman movie, I'm not too sure how strong that will be.

It is unlikely The Dark Knight can catch Titanic.

Actually it costed me around $9.00 to see Titanic but only $6.00 to see The Dark Knight (I found the cheapest cinema to see)

Mummy open on 8/1/08 and the Olympics opens on 8/8/08.

The domestic sales capped at 316 millions up until last week and will level off in 2 weeks.

I don't see the Mummy hurting the Dark Knight. I think the Mummy will open with 30 million, tops, maybe even less. Nothing can match up to Batman, why didn't people figure that out?! (Like the X-Files :crying:)

The Olympics, though, now that could be a big problem. There is alot of interest this year, though it's for wanting to see if China will fuck it all up instead of the actual sports, so maybe...

Wow, a post full of nothing but bullshit and absolute lies, wouda thunk it?

Ticket prices for movies are not double what they were when Titanic came out. They aren't even a third again as expensive.

And there is no fucking wya that DK will beat Titanic. Not with a box office drop of over 50% in the second week and the expected drops of another 50% every week thereafter.

It will be a damn long time and require the prefect set of circumstances to come along for a movie to beat Titanic's box office record, and you can be damn sure it's not going to be some super hero piece of shit like DK.

We need to get the sand out of your vagina, it's making you cranky!

Why all the anger? All he said was it could beat it. Stranger things have happened. (Like Titanic grossing so much in the first place)
