I was looking over the various results of the election on Wikipedia, and I found out that on Tuesday Puerto Rico held a referendum on whether or not the island should apply for statehood. And unlike past referendums, this one ****** with 61 per cent of voters saying they should become a state.
I'm kind of surprised no one is talking about this. Had anyone even heard of this before the election? Considering it sounds like the 51st State might be arriving soon, you'd think more people would be talking about this. Unless there is some kind of hurdle outside of applying for it and having Congress sign off on it?
