remakes are born to suck. the exception proves the rule.
The Goonies a movie i just seen recently would be a good movie for the holidays, not necessary a remake but maybe a second part.
Don't know if it counts, but the Terminator TV series is kind of dull. Nothing much seems to happen, give me the first two films any day. :wave2:
at least, summer glau is a cute piece of candy.but the series, so far i've seen it (season 1, up to episode 7), isn't good. bad casting in case of john connor. and more disappointing: bad storytelling.

I find very few remakes to be better than the original. A couple of exceptions are Ocean's 11 and the Maltese Falcon. I'll add the remake of Amityville Horror as well.
Yes, Ocean's Eleven. I knew I'd seen a good remake, but couldn't remember what. I also recall a space film, like Apollo Thirteen or something, can't remember that one either though.:wave2:
occasionally foreign films remade can be good, because they don't really change anything except the language and cultural idiosyncrasies. so it's really more akin to editing than making a whole new film.
I can't really think of any off the top of my head.
PS. 2010 is a sequal to 2001, not a remake. I'm not sure on the order, but I know there were at least two other books in the series after the original novel.
