Numbers dont lie, Chef.

Numbers don't lie, but they also don't reveal the entire truth.

NASCAR would actually have to be a sport to be the most popular sport in America...

and thats a complete lie.... Football is easily the most popular sport in America, if not baseball... and if not that... then basketball or soccer...

NASCAR is the most popular sport in America. It has the largest fan base of any sport in this country.

and believe it or not it is generally the hardest music to play because of the fast riff's and how it is literally "controlled chao's"

As a music major, I can tell you that your statement isn't entirely true. Yes, playing fast passages is hard to do, but most rockers can't play in time, and they play stuff that's really, really fast, but is not in time with their own song. You want hard? Try jazz or Flamenco guitar. In jazz you have to improvise the melody to fit over the chord changes, do it in time, and be able to do it at a moment's notice. Flamenco guitar features very technically challenging strumming patterns with the fingers (not a pick), and is characterized by flurries of notes in the melodies. :2 cents:

i know exactly what you mean... and I agree, Flamenco, or some people just say classical (in a way it is somewhat) is probably the hardest style of music to play...

but heavy metal does have melody and rhythm... it may not be easy to pick up on for someone who isnt a fan... but as a fan of that music I can pick up on it very easily... easier than some rap music (im also a fan of a very small bit of rap)

but I was just sayin that heavy metal is harder and more difficult to play than other styles of music.. Im not tryin to say its the hardest...

where exactly are you gettin these "facts"?

there is no way it has the largest fan base... as the NFL has the most watched single event in the world every year, the Super Bowl... Think about it... most NASCAR fans are fans of football, baseball, basketball, and other sports... can the vice-versa be said?

I would guess not...

Actually it's 2nd behind the NFL.

Im still willin to think that its not even 2nd... it may be... but I would bet not...

But there is no way its more popular than the NFL...

and if you wanna go worldwide... its probably not top 15 in popularity in sports

The new stuff is total rubbish. The older stuff I can handle. Except for a few underground artists, I just don't pay any attention to rap anymore. Lil Wyte is the best out right now, I'm telling you, but you have to empathize with "suicide," "poppin' pills," "robbing people" and other various dubious acts/lyrics. I actually find him more satirical than anything and find myself rolling my ass off to some of his lyrics.

In TV ratings, but not fans.

NASCAR is one of the most viewed professional sports in terms of television ratings in the United States. In fact, professional football is the only sport in the United States to hold more viewers than NASCAR.[5] Internationally, NASCAR races are broadcast in over 150 countries.[6] NASCAR holds 17 of the top 20 attended single-day sporting events in the world[7], and claims 75 million fans who purchase over $3 billion in annual licensed product sales. Many marketers consider NASCAR fans the most brand-loyal in all of sports and as a result, Fortune 500 companies sponsor NASCAR more than any other Motor Sport

:D

Just surprised to read such negative posts. usually you are a voice of reason but tonight you have entered Arkham, had pizzas delivered and locked the doors

Damn Feller, that is fucking awesome. I'm going to have to use that one.

Rap "music" does suck. I agree. I also think, and I mean no disrespect Jagger, but you need to get laid or something.....seem a little high strung lately. :D

You know what though? If I had to endure three hours of listening to that shit, well......man I don't even know.....that truly sounds like hell. Fucking hell.

I would say 60 of those 75 million fans reside in an area that constitutes maybe 25% of the country. Football is followed everywhere. Its not like almost all football games are held in the Midwest.

I don't care how many billions of dollars it pulls in worldwide...I find that a lot of people that listen to it...can't spell :(

Can't spell, possibly. CREATIVE spelling, likely. Rap is like any other off-the-wall art form. Like psychedelia was in the '60s. BOYZ replacing BOYS and so on. Unfortunately, to the young, this bleeds into mainstream, such as a school-aged youth might accept that BEKUZZ is the correct spelling, BECAUSE he saw it on an album or T.V.

No problem and I do agree that I am ordinarily more composed than this diatribe would seem to indicate. However, had you been subjected to what was something that I find so despicable and irritating for 3 solid hours tonight while I was, for business reasons, forced to be "nice" to this client (whom I really despise), you might have a few raw nerve endings too.

I'll eventually get over it and I will most certainly return to my nice old reasonable Jagger self once again I assure you. In the meantime, sometimes the gorilla comes out of his cage. Tonight, he came out.

I really enjoyed reading this thread. I also enjoy many forms of music including rap. However, the most interesting thing for me will be to read what the "nice old reasonable Jagger" has to say when he returns. :1orglaugh

The truth is stranger than fiction. :2 cents:

As a man in my forties it is not my music of choice and I would look rather silly if I was buying it for myself.

That said, there are some rap tunes that when I hear them I kinda like.

I liked Coolio in the 90's and I like DMX and 50 Cent now.

Most rappers are speaking to their generation about life experiences and about a social status they aspire for.

But it is kinda sickening to see affluent whites acting all gangsta like they can relate.

I also think Eminem is a genius.

I'm sure old man Jagger will be happy to know that his thread is thriving.

How is he a genius again? Because most know why he's popular and it has little to do with his alleged skill.
