Rap "Music" Sucks

Fortunately I live in a country where I'm not forced to listen to the garbage.

That's right we gotta listen to at least 3 rap songs a day or the police will come knocking. It's the law of the land

Three lullabies in an ancient tongue
Followed the thread and....uh..never mind.

Ok....well then my explanation should be more than adequate. What is it you want from me? This thread was not started to argue whether rap is art. It was a subjective assessment of the genre from my viewpoint as it related to a singular and particular experience I had.

If elevator music is your mainstream barometer then I guess there goes your mainstream angle. Bearing in mind, there is a WHOLE LOT of rap that isn't laced with vulgarities and profanities....and yes...it has made it to elevators, sports arenas, stadiums etc....:2 cents:

Never heard it on any elevators I've been on. I also understand that there is (or was) a lot of that type of music that would not be considered "gangsta rap". I don't have my head stuck in the sand about this and this experience I had the other night most certainly was not my first exposure to the product. Hell....I get seriously exposed to it at almost every stop light I come to.

One last time (this is not specifically directed at you, HM)....if you like rap, have at it all you want. God bless you. Enjoy your passion. I think it's great that you find pleasure in it. It's wonderful that we all like different things. How dull and boring it would be if it were not so. Just so happens I had a really negative experience with it the other night and nothing is going to change that. I don't care for it....at all. That's my prerogative. If you think that makes me a narrow-minded asshole or somehow accountable to those of you who are so thin-skinned as to get so bent out of shape about it that you are willing to blow this thread up into the monstrosity it has become, I don't know what to tell you other than you need to just chill out about it (or perhaps seek professional help) and, once again, MOVE ON. Why my insignificant opinion would elicit the response that I have received so far is beyond reason. Get over it. Think about it....my opinion is not that important in the larger scheme of things, folks. If you think it is, that is actually a very nice ego boost for me so the less attention you pay to me, the better your cause will be served.

I'm done with this thread. The rest of you can continue to run on about it all you want. I spoke my opinion, have been either supported or denounced about it and just about everything that can be said on this subject has indeed already been said.

Again, I implore a moderator to put this thread out of its misery and just close it.

March Madness is about to begin so I just don't have time for this anymore.

Good night now! :hatsoff:

Jagger, I like rap music but at the same time I totally
understand your pain. However, hopefully it's experiences
like this that will make you a wiser man.

NASCAR is the most popular sport in America. It has the largest fan base of any sport in this country.

What are the most popular sports in America today? There are a handful that stand above the rest and some of the ones on the top tier of our culture may surprise those who don’t follow them. Here’s an overview of the most popular sports in America.

In professional sports, the most obvious answer is the National Football League. The NFL is by far the most popular sporting enterprise in this country and it occupies a great deal of everyone’s attention. Pro football really started to make a dent into the scene in the 1950s and 1960s and today it outshines everything else. Of course, the Super Bowl is annually the most watched television event in the country.

It may come as a surprise to see that NASCAR is now among the most popular sports in America. In a few decades time, NASCAR has gone from being a minor sport with a small, almost entirely regional audience to being incredibly popular all over the country. Drawing crowds of more than 100,000 to events and an even larger television audience, the sport has managed to become one with mainstream popularity.

The NFL’s current TV Contract:
The contract took effect in 2006 and runs through the 2011 season.
AFC Package: CBS pays $622.5 million/year
NFC Package: FOX pays $712.5 million/year
Sunday Night: NBC pays $650 million/year
Monday Night: ESPN Pays $1.1 billion/year
Total Revenue: $3.735 billion/year

NASCAR’s current TV Contract:
The contract took effect in 2007 and runs through the 2014 season.
ABC/ESPN: $270 million/year
FOX: $208 million/year
TNT: $ 82 million/year
Total Revenue: $600 million/year

Nascar does have larger crowds attending their races.
They (NFL) don't have stadiums (pro stadiums) that hold much over 85,000.
I understand your comment was made on opinion....It happens.

Honestly, who cares what you think Jagger? Oh no, I better stop listening the music I like because Jagger69 on the FreeOnes message boards thinks it sucks.

Probably hundreds more than care what you think...duh.

If you need someone anywhere to help you decide what to do in any aspect of your obviously low level of life...it sucks to be you; absolutely.

I like all kinds of music including rap...but I can understand why some people wouldn't like rap. Opinions are like assholes, everyone has one!:glugglug::2 cents:

I've always been a rock n roll enthusiast, but theres some rappers with genuine and creative talent. I'll definitely agree that these days there is a lot of c-rap, but IMO some rap is legit. Unfortunately rap has been besmirched by modern jokers who call themselves entertainers who lack meaning in their lyrics and make money out of recycling the same shit. The talentless hacks I'm talking about are the ones who wear $1000 sunglasses, over sized clothes and tacky golden bling in their videos talking about how "gangsta" they are. Music isn't about gimmicks and showmanship it's about soul. Mad props to rappers who keep it real and sing about something relevant.

Hmm, actually most of the mainstream artist today hardly every talk about "being gangsta" or dress like thugs. Nowadays they dress like your stereotypical "whiteboy"

This isnt 1999, stop being ignorant.

I think alot of people who hate rap are [racist] to a certain degree, and jealous that rap took rock from the number 1 most popular spot in music. Thats just me.

tbh, I doubt any rock artist are more lyrical with their music than Nas,Big Pun, or Big L.

They force you to listen to rap music in America.
I will never visit that crazy country. ;)

Yes. This is what they do to us over here:

With nothing but rap music playing in the background day and night. Fortunately, I escaped with my life, but whenever I hear Snoop Dogg or DMX I go into convulsions and shit myself. I will never be the same again. :(

There are a lot of creative poets out there as well that probably don't get love. :ban:
