So Will E., what is the function of the Supreme Court? What is that body charged with doing in and for our nation?

Will E. "Facetious" The US Constitution and BORs are just great ideas without the US Court system to enforce them.

Case in point, let's say for example Will E. "Facetious" routinely says such dumb things that people in his state successfully get an initiative measure placed on the ballot banning Will E. "Facetious" from talking altogether.

Despite Will E. "Facetious'" aggressive, one-man campaign against it...come election day the majority overwhelmingly votes in favor of this initiative and it is now the law....Will E. "Facetious" may no longer get caught talking or he faces fine and jail.

That's the end of it right? I mean majority rules and all that right??? No, that's not the end of it unless of course Will E. "Facetious" is too ignorant of what his Constitution says about his right to free speech. Or worse yet, he's listened to some other dummy on youtube tell him the right to free speech in the US is actually somehow "illegal".

But if Will E. "Facetious" can actually read and comprehend what his Constitution says with respect to free speech, he would challenge this law on the basis that it violates his 1st Amendment right to free speech. With the help of the ACLU, Will E. "Facetious" makes his case to local trial court and for some reason the trial court sides with the "will of the people" instead of the Will E. "Facetious". Not satisfied, Will E. "Facetious" files an appeal with his state appellate court, they remarkably uphold the lower court's ruling. Will E. "Facetious'" next stop is his state's Supreme court where they uphold the findings of the lower court as well....Now Will E. "Facetious" begins to think to himself....well maybe they're right and I really do say some pretty dumb shit, but then he says to himself...well maybe I do but it's still my right to do so. Therefore he takes it up to the Federal court of appeals and THEY side with the lower court's ruling....Will E "Facetious" now desperate to guarantee his ability to continue to say dumb stuff as is his constitutional right to do so get's his case on the calendar of the USSC. They finally overturn the decision of the lower court and in a long, drawn out, majority opinion Justice Sonia Sotomayor holds that no matter how dumb Will E. "Facetious'" statements are they are protected by the First Amendment as long as his statements aren't directly or proximately injurious to others.


Will E. "Facetious" by now overjoyed at the ruling celebrates his victorious moment on the steps of the USSC by saying God Bless America and our Kenyan born president for appointing a racist like Sonia Sotomayor to the Supreme Court.:thumbsup:

BTW, I think your interpretation of what the USSC's role in our g'ment is a little off. They are not an active body of government...meaning that they only function whereupon being petitioned. They don't actively go out and stand in the way of the legislative or exec. branches as you seem to be suggesting....that's not their role at all....In fact, they are only equal in power and don't necessarily have a role in governing.

And remember this country was created basically through a tax revolt, back when people had balls (and guns).

Also, If anybody here doesn't think there are A) to many taxes. B) to much taxation , then you either don't pay them or are to stupid to realize you are getting robbed and anally violated every day of your life.

You work for your money, for you.......not for other people who dont work, not for huge GOV waste, not for useless GOV jobs, and not to give groups, lobbyists, big business , ect. in the form of subsidaries and bailouts nor to other nations. ect ect ect.

I think it is important to remember that presidential races tend to be two horse affairs. This last time around it was not Obama versus some combination of Socrates, Churchill and Nelson Mandela. It was Obama versus grandad and some pushy woman from the PTA. Even if those choices excite you in the opposite direction from Obama you may have been swayed back by the way the two campaigns conducted themselves. I'm not going to into boring details, but if are being honest with yourself you know which of the two operations you would never use as a blueprint for a future election. And if you can't even mount a half decent campaign.................

If there was anything in the run up to the election that would lead you to believe that the McCain/Palin approach would have us on easy street round about now, then lets hear the constructive stuff.

Most people don't pay the top tax rate and even our top tax rate is lower than many countries. That's not a defense against your excessive taxes case but just a matter of perspective.

Mostly true however the difference was the Colonies weren't getting anything (they felt) in return for being taxed and having the burden of writs of assignment (open ended warrants that effectively allowed the British to search anything anytime and confiscate property in lieu of taxes.)

Can't say as I have ever said one good thing about Bush. Well I take that back he tried to push for the proper court system fall out where the losing party has to pay the expenses of the winner (like it is in most countries with... get this, Health care OHHH WOW). But instead it got shut down which is really funny since now we are fighting the health care system because of crazy outrageous insurance policies that doctors have to pull out to protect them selves from deep pocket ass faces that sue them over unsubstantial bull shit causes. Get this if they had to pay when their doctor fights back against them and wins they start loosing money.

Step 2. doctor fights back and wins (because his plaintiff has to pay his court fees when he wins)
Step 3. No profit :dunno:
Step 4. a major slow down in the amount of dumbass lawsuits over unethical bull shit = a major decrease in insurance prices
