The Leafs D is in a shambles.

Hahahahaha.... The Leafs :D

The Leafs are the shittiest managed team out there. They have money and talent, but can't ever get their shit together. I'm a Leafs fan, and I hope they miss the playoffs for the next fifteen years so that some of the stupid, mindless fans stop buying tickets and merchandise, and the franchise actually has to address the underlying problems that create perpetual mediocrity.

You're one of the decent leafs fans, dirk. I've argued it's a few whose main points were that they were better because they were a "bigger deal". That they make the most money and sell the most tickets/merchandise and how everyone is always talking about them. Nevermind the fact that everyone is always talking about them for hilariously embarrassing reasons, like epic collapses (postseason and regular), ridiculously bad trades, the Cup drought, the fact that they've won their division ONCE since their last cup in '67... God, there's a lot of ammunition to be used when dealing with the stupid ones, and that's without even bringing up how my team has been doing.

But like I said, you're alright, Dirk. If they ever get their shit together and win something (not likely, I'm sure you'll agree), I'll be happy for you, at least.

Down here in SW FL this time of year there are a lot of snowbirds from Canada. Yesterday, I saw a car in front of me with Ontario plates with a Leafs logo on the plate. As we sat at the light, I did picture pulling along side and running the car into the curb (the boards). But, alas, I didn't think the deputy would understand the good-natured fooling around. That, and the driver was probably pushing 80 (and I don't mean on the speedometer).

It's the ones that say "Je Me Souviens" on them that you have to avoid. ;)

I avoid any of them that we're born after 1988 (my birth year) because they're too young and cocky to realize that they don't have a leg to stand on in an argument about their team vs. my team. I mean, when the Bruins hasn't won in 39 years, which certainly meant they hadn't won in my lifetime, I wasn't running around telling Habs fans about how they won twice in the 70's. I never bragged about how good the Red Sox were before the invention of EVERYTHING I use in my daily life.

I was playing the American Neanderthal. I saw a Leafs logo and wanted to hit. If I have to read, then try to understand what I read, I will have missed my opportunity.

Goddammit I can see things lining up for our usual swan dive as we approach playoff time. Ryan Miller was HORRIBLE tonight....3 soft goals, we outshoot a shitty Dallas team at home 35-27 and lose 4-2. I thought he was supposed to be a game-changer!! He SUCKS as far as I am concerned. I'd rather have Halak back to be honest. Also, I fear the loss of Tarasenko is going to prove to be bigger than anyone cares to admit. This, my friends, is St. Louis Blues hockey. I don't know if I can bear to watch another meltdown but I can sure smell one coming. It seems to be an inherent component of this franchise. I fear we are way overrated and just don't have the horses to win the Cup or perhaps even make a deep playoff run. We'll end up being taken out by Chicago or Colorado or LA or San Jose or Anaheim....just you wait. Pick one....it doesn't matter. I have seen this movie before and it doesn't end well. Never has, never will.

I'm standing on the ledge tonight. Someone can try to talk me down but I don't know if it's going to persuade me. I'm serious damaged goods after years of torture that seems to know no bounds. I fear this team is destined to never win a Cup in my lifetime. NEVER.

April 16th is when you have to start worrying. It was one game. Miller may have the flu or spent the night with a fantastic skate-chaser. Oh, who am I kidding? The way LA is playing right now the Kings may as well start practicing their poses next to the table with the Conference Championship trophy. Of course, there is still a couple of weeks to go and THIS WAS ONLY ONE GAME. Relax. Inhale. Exhale. At least wait until April before you go stand on the ledge.

Wings with the body shot to the Leafs playoff hopes. Can't believe Detroit is still in the hunt. Would love to finish 7th and get a healthy Zetterberg and Datsyuk against an overrated Pittsburgh team. They don't scare anybody.

The East playoffs are going to be a slugfest. Maybe even as much as the West will be. There may be a couple series in the first round that only go 4 or 5, but most will likely go at least 6.

Everyone needs a Quick.

Fucking Toronto. What lack luster, shit play when they should have stepped up their game to their very best. Those guys want to be eliminated so their year is done. Here they are, refining their playoff strategy.

Not sure why everyone's got such a boner for that Quick save. I haven't seen all the angles, but it looks like it was going plenty wide, and the only reason he had to stop it like that is because he fell on his face for no reason a couple seconds earlier. Brodeur had an awesome "scorpion" save earlier in the year that was far better.

Also, 2 wins in about 24 hours for the Bruins. Glad they didn't stumble after that stupid SO loss to Montreal last week. 7 games left, the only two that worry me at all are against Detroit and Minnesota, and they're both very winnable.

I don't think people have a particular boner for the "save," because it wasn't a save. It was going wide, no question. It does speak pretty well about his reflexes and his sense of where the puck is. Watch the guy trying to deflect it. Quick obviously was about 5 seconds ahead of him. It's just an impressive move as far as reflexes go, not to mention acrobatics. Go and lay on the floor and do that.

^it was impressive a physical feat, but everywhere I've seen it (sportcenter top 10, puck daddy, etc) has been calling it a "front runner for save of the year". I'd say the only really impressive part of it is the coordination he displayed. It wasn't a laser of a shot, and he was pretty much in that position, waiting for it for a couple of seconds, but being able to knock it away with the leg from that angle on his stomach with a periphery-skewing mask on is pretty impressive.

Oh, and Dirk... Why not come be a bruins fan? I can't think of a single reason to continue to waste your allegiance on that joke of a team only to have it figuratively shat on by everyone from the front office with terrible hires/trades, to the players with their mailed-in, half-assed effort. All the while collecting million dollar paychecks and committing highway robbery with ticket/concession prices?

Why not come cheer for a team that's committed to a solid, well-rounded team system and organizational philosophy? One that lends itself perfectly to icing a competitive, hard-working squad every year, that doesn't hinge on the success or health of a couple of players? A team that not only pushes back twice as hard when someone decides to step it up physically, but thrives in that situation. For god's sake, man... Why do you waste your time, money and heart on a team that's shown time after time that it doesn't give a shit if you're ever happy?

Sorry, man. I grew up watching the Leafs, I know they're a shit organization at the moment, but I have to have faith. Right?

I'm a Leafs fan. Judge me as you will. I'm not jumping to a new team because they suck. Perhaps I'm a sucker for punishment, but I don't want to leave my childhood team. I hope to see them completely destroyed as a franchise and rebuilt within my lifetime.
