did anybody happen to see the pre-game ceremonies for Ted Kennedy's number being retired at the Maple Leafs game last night? a touching tribute was played and they used a song from the Band Of Brothers soundtrack. very fitting.

Pens beat the Canes 3-2 in a shootout. Of all the teams in the east I have the up most respect for the Canes. Rangers, Flyers and Caps could learn a few things from them.

Is somewhere outhere.

thank them for considering :thefinger

Best winning streak since 2005.Long may it continue :glugglug:

ummm Lightning are bad in this one. like last year bad.

i hate to say it, but Smitty's days as #1 goalie look numbered. Niittymaki should take over if this is how it's gonna be

then again, the game is about 8 minutes from ending and we have 13 SOG and 32 SA. did the rest of TB take the game off and not tell anybody? impossible to blame Smitty for all of it, but he still can't stop 1 on 1 shots

Any team that is beat 7-1 by the Senators has a problem. NHL.com said Tampa didn't pull Smith for Niittymaki. By the time Tampa was down by 3, I definetly would have.

And what are they putting in the water in Denver? The Avalanche are playing way better than they should be.

the whole team failed there. Smitty definitely should have been pulled, but hindsight is 20/20

hopefully that lights a fire under them because that was embarrassing

I honestly don't know how to criticize the Lightning anymore. They have the talent of a playoff team (Stanley Cup contender is pushing it, because I think there are too many questions at goaltending and defence), but they just don't click. They need a huge shakeup behind the bench, or maybe a week-long team building getaway in the rockies. Nothing creates bonds faster than two men having to kill a grizzly bear with a pack of matches and a butter knife.

your guess as to their inconsistent play is as good as mine. it's definitely gotten old though.

Smitty says he's 100% after that concussion and post concussion syndrome 8 months ago, but now i wonder. i don't want to wonder, but i have to. Niittymki has proven a GREAT 1.a though

and Lecavalier and Tanguay don't seem to be clicking as well as they should. i knew buying out Prospal was a bad idea.

Holy shit, I can still remember when these pro-Tampa hockey analysts were on Mike Smith's dick like it had the cure to cancer.

The Lightning got fucked every way possible by my beloved Senators. Nevermind the score, or the beatdown/payback that Carker gave to Steve Downie , the huge bodycheck Volchenkov layed on Hedman, or even Michalek's first career hat-trick. How about the fact that the Sens are 25-5-4 in the last 34 games against Tampa. Fucking embarassing!

And the Leafs STILL haven't won a game. Life is sweet...

I hope your sens will not play like crap against montreal saturday , I would really like to see Kovalev stick it to his former team.

On this date in 1984, Lightning coach Rick Tocchet scored his first NHL goal.

To bad he could not lace them up for the bolts, might have needed some of his goals.

that's because before he got hurt it just may have.

Mike Smith was never a number 1 goalie. He especially wasn't the unbeatable player you and thunderbolt made him out to be. Dallas showed the league a backup goalie who looked good on a good team and Tampa Bay bit. Smith wasn't good before the injury and he's not good after. It's time for Tampa bit the bullet and start Nittymaki.

It's like when Cassel filled in for Tom Brady on the Patriots last year. Cassel plays awesome, Patriots trade him because they know he's not actually that good.

I salute your devotion to your team though. Some of the best fans I know. :bowdown:Most Wings fans would be calling for Osgood's head a long time ago.

it's not really wise to say he wasn't good. he was good. he was great. his goals against average and save percentage were #1 goalie material last year.

this year is a different story.

Well if that was Smith's "freshman year" (so to speak) as a number one goalie, then the Lightning may want to play Nittymaki. I don't get what they are doing. Nittymaki has outplayed Smith. Logically, that means you let Nittymaki play to see if he is better. But when has logic ever meant anything in Tampa Bay?
