ugh, i was really looking forward to this release hoping it would amp up the online play and all the hype about great graphics but i'm actually very disappointed.
first issue: the game freezes up on both xbox and ps3. at first i thought i was just unlucky but slowly the posts on the EA forum trickled in. finally EA acknowledged on their website over a week ago that its a known issue. still no fix and i i've already lost one really fun game where i beat Nebraska with Idaho. I was really wanting to do an online update with that to show off but it froze up while they were doing play of the game. (maybe it was electronic karma cos i was wanting to show off?)
second issue: choppy frame work. we tried to do a tournament on Sunday. everyone experienced choppiness. for instance when kicking the graphic for power of the kick will sometimes hesitate so you're just not sure when to release to get max power. i've seen my QB and my opponent's QB but do a fake play action handoff but continue to run backwards with their arm stuck out as if handing off, then about 20 yards later they turn and throw the ball. wtf? this isn't frequent but annoying still and has been acknowledged by EA as a known issue on their forum. something to do with the cache.....but still no fix.
third issue: heisman level is crap. they don't really increase the performance of your opponent, they nerf your team's performance. previously my QB was pretty accurate on play action passes. level up to heisman and now its as if he's trying to hit the peanut vendor in the stands instead of my receiver. just improve the other team and don't nerf my team cos it makes my QB go from Randall Cunningham to Ray Charles. its as if they didnt want to spend the time to improve the next level so they simply gimped the previous level and thought aren't we clever...... /sigh
fourth issue. Did you know that every team in college football constantly runs a no huddle offense? guess what? i didnt either! but according to EA almost every team runs a no huddle offense. has an EA developer ever been to a college game? i've been going for about 12 years now and in those twelve years i've never seen as much no huddle offense as i have in the last week on NCAA 11. Even the fuckin cheerleaders do a no huddle human pyramid, wtf??? .......ok, i made up that part about the cheerleader so stop trying to watch for it.
gripes: for Teambuilder it would be nice if you could make rivals for you newly created team. instead you have to rely on the rivals associated with what team you are replacing it with. Also the generic stadiums are lame so to get a cool stadium you have to go with a real one which allows you to change the field logos and text but happens to keep the name of the school or bowl or conference on other things like the walls or jumbotron. ***** gripe but still. These were never an issue with Create-A-School feature on the earlier games and you could also pick your fight song! woo hoo!
kudos: i like the expansion pack for the dynasty mode. some nice goodies to help you get that edge.
in conclusion, i paid 60 bucks for a game on my PS3 and had glitches, so got another one for my XBOX cos i was having some friends over for a tournament. glitches came with that one too. EA has acknowledged them and almost two weeks later they have yet to fix it. You would think if a company was going to have the balls to charge you that much they'd fucking make sure the issues were fixed. I'm not asking for anything more than to have my purchased product do what it says it can do. so basically EA fucked me up the ass and made me pay 60 bucks each time they did it.
If you have NCAA 10 then my recommendation is to just stick with that until EA fixes their product. If you happen to be a developer for EA, go fuck yourself. my rating for the gameplay so far is: BLEH! my ratings for the graphics is stellar. also, the locomotion feature is too gimmicky to me. Also I'm tired of that graphic that looks like Tim Tebow is trying to take a major dump.
NCAA 03 is still my favorite of the franchise even if it did have Harrington on the cover.
Note to A Ry: I always play as Purdue when I'm playing in the Big 10. Love their playbook. I like trying different conferences because of the multiple schemes you get to work with on offense and the multiple schemes the opponents throw at you. You should try playing with the Mountain West Conference for a real treat. They throw everything at you including the kitchen sink. seriously, i saw a WR run a post route and end up catching a kitchen sink. (i also had dropped acid about an hour before seeing this though so I could be mistaken) I think some of those MWC Offensive Coordinators are still stuck in backyard football mode. you know what i mean? we huddle up and the quarterback says, ok everybody go long.
every.
single.
time. LOL. still a lot of fun to play them if you ever want a change of pace from the bone crushing Big 10 play.
This has been my "un-requested but you got it anyway" review of NCAA 11. Thanks for playing.
