I've never been nor described myself as a gun nut. Do I like firearms and practice with them whenever possible? Sure. Is it part of my job? Not at the moment. But I have carried as part of my job for the better part of twenty years.

It isn't a gun control issue. It's a control issue. And that's where I resist the fundamental change.

Youre livelihood depends are youre right to own a firearm. I'm sure you have been very careful in your life not to screw that up.
Like I said the DHS can take that all away from you just for talking to me about it right now because I am clearly insane.
Again this is their end game here (whether you believe this is a hoax or not is irrelevent). Taking away the individual States capacity to issue firearms IDs and putting it in the hands of the DHS.
I keep reading that applications for firearms are on the rise big time.
Imagine how many of those rubber stamps that say "REJECTED" they are going to have to buy.

On the contrary. There are most certainly bad people out there but let me ask you this....what percentage of Americans do you think would condemn the actions of this idiot in Orlando? Other than the laws of physics, name me one thing that will consistently occur 100% of the time. It is the strength of our overall unity as a nation that makes us strong regardless of race, color or creed. The terrorists win only if we let fear and loathing replace our spirit of brotherhood and unity. Unforeseen actions by deranged individuals or groups will occur but we cannot allow them to change what our country stands for.

Federal authorities have recovered video from security cameras inside Orlando's Pulse nightclub that shows shooter Omar Mateen firing his assault rifle and systematically killing innocent victims, sources told ABC News.

Was anyone actually surprised that a smattering of genuine small time actors might be present at a popular club in Orlando? Seriously?

And I never understood what the suspicion was about some injured club goers being escorted back to the vicinity of the club. Seemed logical to me they were among those who were able to flee, with assistance, to some distance away, and that they returned because emergency vehicles ended up congregating near the club.

Why the 3 hour standoff? I'm sure having worked in law enforcement Ace can explain that better than I can, but I'd be glad to if he doesn't. It sure as heck isn't rocket science.

Anyway, I contacted the maker, narrator and uploader of this video - user name redsilverj - via one of the social media links on his youtube page just to let him know what a complete piece of garbage he is. I'd encourage others to do the same if they're so inclined.

Having been in a few standoffs I can say, without hesitation, those coppers did the right thing. There was a boa fide shooter who had already shown a capacity for violence. Waiting for negotiators and SWAT to come to the scene is SOP for any department. Pressing the situation would only resulted in even more dead people. Negotiations generally take a while and that guy (I'm never going to use his name) wasn't listening.

They waited until they had all their assets in place and went in force, which is exactly what they should have done. Going in piece meal would only have resulted in dead and wounded first responders.

Exactly. I know this from experience. The first officer on the scene is usually not going to rush in and save the day (see Columbine). Backup arrives then a perimeter is set up.

Like that meme says - "when seconds count, the police are minutes away."

Why not just release the 9/11 calls? The actual unedited 9/11 calls he was making while holding 300 people hostage and shooting 1 out of 3 of them multiple times while holding the entire Orlando police force, County sherriffs, state police, SWAT teams and snipers at bay for 3 hours while going into bathrooms asking for black people and sending text messages while calling 911 and tv stations on a cel phone multiple times while taking everybodys cell phones so they couldn't film anything and post it on social media while posting multiple times on facebook and nobody ran out and escaped or tried to clobber him.

There is this article claiming that James Howell , the guy they have in custody in CA actually turned himself in and asked for police protection because he was involved in a CIA plot but when he found out the FL guy was killed he realized he was a patsy. Supposedly 2 anonymous CA police released this info after the FBI took over and took Howell away.
It could be untrue. But then again if it is true we can't expect the GOV and the media to tell us that. Imagine what would happen?
