I think there is a very big difference between a girl showing her stomach in a photo and a 40 year old talking to a girl and then going over to her house to "hang out".
One is just a picture while the other is following through with an inappropriate and very illegal act.
Obviously there is a big difference.
but I think the commentary is that everywhere in the media teens see sexy as cool, and then we tell them they aren't supposed to be.
at the same time telling them not to, all the stores are selling sexy clothes to teens because that's what they want to buy to be cool and that's where the money is.
so now we have turned teens into sex symbols, and then we are telling adults that they are wrong to be sexually attracted to a half naked young girl acting provocative in a sexual way.

In the Murphy, Texas episode of to catch a predator they said it's a felony to sex talk with a 15 year old. FELONY. So it's okay to jerk off to a half naked pic of a 15 year old (and least face it: that was the point of any official pic of a half-naked girl), but if you jerk off to a topless pic of a 15 year old it's a felony? If you sex talk to a 15 year old but never meet her in person, it's a felony? What kind of shit is that?
I really did not know who Miley Cyrus was until this photo was published. OK so I am deaf and I do not listen to music and watch very little television or cinema.
I do not think I would like her if I met her and I think that she is probably a pretty shallow person, but maybe I am very wrong about that too. I think the photos she put up of herself on myspace or facebook are silly but I do not see anything very wrong about them.
I think she is a nice looking girl and has a nice body and I think it is OK for her to show it off and to enjoy men enjoying seeing her body. If boys her own age find her body sexually enjoyable to look at I do not see why older men would not as well, if she is sexy she is sexy and if a 15 year old can see that then a 65 year old will as well. I think the idea that older guys might be jerking off to her very cute.
I hate this idea that when you are her age you have to keep your body covered. It is like saying that there is something wrong with your body, that it is sort of evil or something. There might be something wrong with some of the people looking at it though, who see evil there or who want to enjoy her body in some sort of unhealthy way instead of just be able to celebrate and take a natural healthy male pleasure in a beautiful sexy female body.
Maybe Miley Cyrus is being exploited by Disney or her Dad or whoever, but if she is it is not down to this photo or the fact that she has a nice body. Girls generally get exploited quite a bit in our world and I do not see anything wrong in us sometimes using our bodies to get a little power with you guys?

i agree with the photographer that it's art. i dont think there's anything wrong with it unless you make an issue out of it. this thing got blown up because miley is popular.

I agree. A lot of top models are younger then 18 and they do a lot more racy shoots then that one. Hell Calvin Klein had 12 years olds doing upskirt shots on a billboard a few years ago.
I can't understand why they were so upset about these photos, because you just have to look how she walks around now
