love guns?

Speaking of guns that give me a boner...er... Premium Link Upgrade

I'm not a big fan of the .410 for home defense or the Judge as a carry piece, but this thing looks like it could be fun! I say "could be" because I'm a South paw and this thing would melt my wrist as is. Hopefully this thing'll be popular enough that they make a LH model and a 6rd model. Them boys in Brazil are making some good ****...I love my PT145 MilPro and 7rd .357 627SS.

I do a little skeet & trap shooting. I have a couple for home and personel defense. I am going through some sticker shock for the ammo the rifle my uncle gave me 4 years ago uses. The fun part this is not for a case.

nice bolt riles mauser :thumbsup:I also like the springfield 1903 . But my favorite overall remains the gewehr 98 that I find better than the kar 98.

Aren't those ammo prices a bitch though? :hammer:
I remember just back in 2004 or 2005 I was getting 200 round cans of Milsurp Aussie 7.62 NATO Ball
(147 gr. FMJ) for the mere sum of 29.99 each!. Premium Link Upgrade

for me some ammo is cheap and some is expensive.

the cheapest is for the Mosin Nagants. 7.62x54R milsurp can still be found in tins of 440 rounds for around $90. that's about $0.20 cents per round

7.7x58 Japanese for the Type 99 on the other hand...basically no milsurp stuff exists and if you do find it, it's probably more dangerous to the shooter than the target. new production stuff is hard to get and boxes of 20 will easily pass $30

30.06, .303 British, 7.5x55 Swiss and 8mm Mauser are all about the same price wise.

luckily i've stocked up and am good to go for a while

I don't own one, but a co worker was thinking of buying a .380 auto, and I expressed a concern over ammo prices and availability. I just can't figure out why a box of .380, cost more then a box of .38spl, or 9mm. I understand it's not as common a round, but is that the only justification in charging so much for it? Any answers to this?

As far as other calibers go, I do not own anything I feel comfortable running steel cased ammo through. On the other hand, I don't own anything that would be considered an exotic caliber. So worst case, I'm paying for Lake City, Rem. UMC, or American Eagle.

Oh yea, I remember shooting tons of this stuff out of my friend's M44 Carbine. . .20 cents a pop is exceptionally reasonable!

Ouch! $30 bucks?
Premium Link Upgrade looks like the best solution for that 7.7 unit. ;)
Tell me, do you ever run into lots that have corrosive primers?
Those things are a bitch! The last thing I want to do after a day of shooting is thoroughly clean about a half a dozen rifle barrels. No sir-y, that corrosive material wastes no time.
. . . I much prefer to clean my arms when I get home . . . where the cold **** is . . . . right revidffum? :1orglaugh

Buy it cheap and stack it deep! ;)

About a year ago on another forum, one of the members asked Charley Petty about this and his answer was simply that the .380 didn't make the list of high priority at the very busy ammunition production plants UMC, ATK & Winchester. As such, the .45ACP, the 40 S & W and the 9mm Parabellum/ Luger were the cartridges that were being replenished for the market.
And therein lies your .380 shortage. ;)

I have heard that the going rate for a 50 round box of .380 9o Grain JHPs was as high as $50!!
Sheesh . . .I was buying Fiocchi 90gr JHPs at a local shop for $12 bucks out the door about two-three years ago.

I just saw it in a catalog for $17-50 (95grn). 50 9mm go for $12-$14, so I guess low production priority is the best excuse going. I personally wouldn't buy one, unless I got just about the best deal EVER on a Sig, or an old AMT. I don't see the point when I can get a .45acp of apx. the same size, just a little thicker, that holds 12 rounds, or a small 9mm/.40S&W that holds the same number of shells, and is only slightly bigger, if not the same size. But thanks for the answer.

most of my ammo is corrosive.

the cleaning process i have is long and drawn out, but it works. i have no rust or corrosion in my bores that wasn't there when i bought the rifle
