Know Your Rights Before Getting Pulled Over by an Officer

Ace Boobtoucher

Founder and Captain of the Douchepatrol
County Sheriff with a goatee?

Every time I have been cited the officers involved had probable cause. In one instance I was driving the wrong way up a one way street. Busted tail light, etc. etc. But in every case I did nothing to exacerbate the situation by refusing to comply with their requests.

A cop in Omaha had me dead to rights on a DUI but by being honest and respectful I was given an ****** home at ten miles per hour under the speed limit.

For every instance someone cries about ***** of power or ********* I can tick off a hundred instances where the officer involved are thoughtful, compassionate and even helpful.

If you wait for a cop to get a warrant for your vehicle and you really have nothing to hide they are going to tow your car to the garage and strip it down to the chasis in the name of thoroughness and because you are an asshole for wasting their time.

If you make a point of antagonizing someone who is doing a thankless job they will take every opportunity to fuck you over. When I arrested a *** for vandalism we got the charges enhanced because of gang affiliation; the window he vandalized was on a church, so that was another enhancement; he turned eighteen six months prior, so he wouldn't get off with a slap on the wrist and he had gotten out of county lock up two weeks earlier for the same charge. So the judge would see that he is a recidivist and punish him to the full extent of the law, including tacking on reimbursement for every window damaged on the building, which adds up to 25,000 dollars.

Of course there are assholes in every PD around the world but for the most part officers are considerate and conscientious. They get into the department to serve their communities and keep chaos and anarchy at bay.

I didn't watch that whole movie because I don't have 45 minutes to waste on something that won't work anyway.

I gotta say, US police have such a bad rep generally speaking. …I just watched the first 5 mins and am laughing my ass off but don't doubt that that is exactly how it is there.

For fooks sake, they're public servants, not masters.

I always found, at least where I am at, Sheriffs and Highway Patrol are much more generous and nicer than the city cops.

Beyond that, I remember one time, this guy got busted for being high and just generally ****** while driving. Well he starts screaming in detox about how he has rights and he gets a phone call and they can't keep him here because, and he said: If I'm so ****** how am I able to stand still and talk to you about my rights! :1orglaugh

Well the officer who was running detox at that time yells out: SHUT THE FUCK UP! YOU HAVE NO GODDAMN RIGHTS! I BEEN HERE FOR ONLY A FEW MINUTES AND YOU'RE ALREADY FUCKING ******* ME OFF!

:hatsoff:

Basically, don't **** of the police, don't get an attitude or they will most likely find something that they can pin you on and will completely fuck you over!

JohnnyStyro said it right: Just be nice and polite.

Nothing like have your customer yell and spit and scream at you all day long to make you finally become a bitter asshole.

If your actually polite to them and respectful things might turn out for the better. Working in the food business during the 3rd shift I delt with drunks every night, weekends were insane. I would have to cops down about once a week to break up a fight or they would bring a perp back in that walked out on their bill. They would stop in around 4am to grab their lunch, I made sure that they got 33% off their bill, if we used them to stop a fight or something I would buy their meal, took the time to talk to them and learn things about them. When ever we had trouble they would respond in under a minute. They took care of the ones who took care of them.

We had one guy hit an off duty officer in my establishment, I was a wintess and called it in to dispatch on my cell. We got the guy for Tresspassing(I told him to leave before had), ********* ********, public ************, assult on a officer, resisting arrest, and disturbing the peace. When all the **** had to do was leave my store.

Dude, that sounds terrible. If you've got to bribe them to do their job - things must be rotten.

It is not bribing them. It is being a good community citizen. Bribing them would be if they caught you with 5 kilos of **** and you were going to pay them off to not arrest you. Here the police are helping out the establishment but doing their job and the owner/manager is saying "thanks since you help me out let me at least buy you your lunch".

Giving the police a discount on their meal is just being a good citizen. Longhorn Steak house offers a 20% discount to any active service member, police, EMT or Fireman on their bill, are they bribing them?

The dictionary here says:

bribe |brīb|
verb [ trans. ]
persuade (someone) to act in one's favor, typically (<not exclusively) illegally or dishonestly, by a gift of money or other inducement : an undercover agent bribed the judge into giving a lenient sentence | [ trans. ] you weren't willing to be good to your ****** without being bribed with a lollipop. | [ intrans. ] he has no money to bribe with.

call it whatever you want I stated my thoughts about it. I admire the Devil's Advocate role your playing though.

All I'm saying is that there's a slippery slope from showing gratitude to being expected. If people are getting paid for their job they shouldn't be looking or for that matter taking additional payments/bonuses/advantages, it's wrong and casts doubt on the morality of the policemen involved.

You have to ask yourself what's the difference between this and protection money?

Well I was showing them that I was gratful that they did their job. Also the officers would ofter say that I don't have to give them a discount or buy their meal. But when I control whether they get a bill or not it is out of their hands. I was being thanksful to the police, but I expect some folks think that all police are corrupt and only look out for themselves.

You can think I am bribing them all you want, I could careless they do their job and I thank them by giving them a discount on thier bill, guess we better do an expose on this. News flash the majority of big food establishments out there give police a discount on their meals at least in America.

Nice post Hellraiser.
Does anybody sometimes think of police as ticket machines?
I do.
I'm usually pro cop but in the states, depending on the state , county or town cops seem to be an army against the people regarding driving and giving tickets.
Do we really drive that bad?
If youve been to other countries you see people driving like wreckless idiots, but not more accidents.
Speed traps, cops hiding tryng to find the slightest thing to ticket somebody for in the states is too extreme.
and tickets aint cheap, plus the points and the surcharges and the insurance increases.
Its a form of revenue for many towns, not reallly about public safety, lets be honest about that.

I both agree with and identify with your superb post in it's entirety, Josty !
I was once relieved of the agony of going downtown because of a dui when I was 19. I failed the field test, but I was as respectful as possible w/out being a kiss ass... and I told the truth, that's very important! Cops have an uncanny way of finding the truth and when they find out that their suspect was lying, that suspect get's little consideration for an easement, am I right about that ? :D

It's really very simple -

√ Don't join, dress, nor walk like a gang member,
√ Always tell the truth
√ Look 'em leos in the eye when you speak
√ don't 'cop' an attitude

I'm sure that there are other items, but this is a good basic rule of thumb.

√ Oh, don't accumulate warrants

You do have the right to remain silent.

You would be surprised how many fucking idiots don't follow this simple and important rule. The cops can nab you red handed doing something wrong, and if you do get caught, just shut the fuck up and get yourself a very good and competent lawyer and let him do your talking. Talking to the cops and confessing to a crime and signing your signature on the guilt sheet is a slam dunk for the prosecution.

Many years ago I was the 3rd shift manager for a fast food joint in a college town and we were the only place open when the bars let out. As you can imagine, we had our share of drunks and fights. Since the company was too cheap to hire an off duty cop on the weekends, I got more 'cop traffic' by giving them free coffee and big discounts on the food.

This isn't a bribe since it wasn't directed to a particular cop nor did I ask them to do anything specific in return for the freebies, but I still feel it's not right of them to accept it. A cop (or anyone else in ***************) should avoid the appearance of impropriety. Ultimately it's the police department's policy that determines if it is OK for a cop to accept a discount on food (or any other item).
