Actually, it's the media that keeps Obama's residency an issue.

While several right-wing radio, and at least the one right-wing TV, outlet does, it sometimes is used to generate ratings on the left as well. Anytime conflict can be sensationalized, the US media will jump on it.

It's called ratings. Because in the US, advertising is 100% of you funding, and the US has an advertisement industry that makes every other nation on the planet look like a playground.

If I wasn't an American, I'd hate the US, merely because of all the conflict and arrogance I see on US TV. It's for ratings, not actually what most Americans feel. Virtually 3/4rds of all Americans tune it out.

"The media" can't cover what isn't there. It's GOPers who make up the overwhelming majority of 'birthers'. It's GOPer activists who prop up court cases and rig up phony documents to freak out delusional goofs who will pile on any reason to be more anti-O.

While some demos feed on this as just one more piece of evidence as to the absurd lows some in the mainstream of GOPer politics will stoop they don't perpetuate this nonsense, Palin, Bachmann or any of the other seemingly embarrassing stunts GOPers keep interjecting into the political discourse.

There was a time I imagine where progressive and supporters of O would give some of these people forum just to see where they were coming from and challenge the 'wisdom' of their assertions. (Which is reasonable) But having seen how incorrigibly delusional some of these people can be..that ship has long since sailed.

GOPers keep Palin, birther, et al alive. It's not the fault of O supporters for every time birthers, Palin or Bachmann flare up in the media.

1. Being of alien descent and being a United States citizen are two different things. One doesn't proclude you from being the other.

But is does prevent you from holding the US Executive Office if you are not a native born US citizen.

The Executive Office of the US is the only position in government where you must be a Natural Born Citizen. No exceptions, even as much as "Da'Gobenor" wants that to change (short of a Constitutional Amendment).

BTW, 18th Century punctuation is misleading in the above article. The phrase "or a Citizen of the United States, at the time of the Adoption of this Constitution" means the only exceptions to natural born citizen are those who were citizens at the time of the adoption of the US Constitution (those two phrases are coupled). Anyone who believes you only need to be a citizen are in great error. There are other punctuational differences in the US Constitution that commonly confuse people, that are well known as well (but ignored by the media).

The 1st and 2nd Amendments are just a couple that the Supreme Court has to regularly educate people on, because they want to read them like the believe, not what is historical fact. The 1st Amendment was largely written to protect assembly (against the British, who outlawed many forms of assembly) and, to a lesser extent, the press (who started to be targeted by the British), because free speech was a given, but included to complete the complementary trinity. Same deal with the 2nd Amendment, written to protect militias (again, against the British, who disbanded them, forceably ), because private arms ownership was a given, but also included in the complementary form (that private ownership leads to militias).

having been born & raised in a country with a "mixed" economy with massive state owned & run organisations controlling rail, phone, gas, electrictity, car companies, airlines etc, also full national health coverage etc

Clinton was a test case but while he and his people knew where his opponents were coming from ('vast right-wing conspiracy'), they weren't sensible enough to to know where his opponents were going.

The underlying case against Clinton was ultimately thrown out as any paralegal could have probably predicted. And that analysis is probably where it stopped for Clinton and his people.

BUT, if you want to be effective at beating anyone at anything..it's not enough to know where they're coming from...you have to be able to reasonably surmise where they're going too.:2 cents:

If Obama has demonstrated to the people who matter that he's a citizen and there are naysayers who contend he isn't but for proving it to them...he'd be a fool to play that game....because it's only a game.
