Well, I do not agree with you at all on that. I always found Dirk to be, as I said before, a person who would engage in an intelligent debate... if YOU were prepared to do that with him. But if you wanted to act like a total asshat, he'd treat you as a total asshat. He didn't give the same level of respect to a moron as he'd give to someone who just happened to disagree with him, but was still trying to form a logical, rational argument counter to his own.

Think about it this way, here we have Sam Fisher. In all of my years on chat forums, I don't know that I've ever seen a bigger, more demanding attention whore whose lasted this long on a forum. Sorry if that seems insulting or cruel, but that's just my assessment of this name-changing, defective individual. Fisher claims that people pick on him because he is a (generic) "conservative (poor baby). But here's the rub with that false claim: I am more comfortable disagreeing with Dirk on the issue of gun control than I am agreeing with Fisher on that same issue. On the issue itself, I probably would be closer to Fisher's view. But the way that particular individual presents himself on here... I would prefer to engage in an intelligent debate with someone like Dirk than to waste my time (and my own self-respect) agreeing with a person like this "Sam Fisher" character.

There are other intelligent posters who no longer, or very seldom, post here now... like Jagger69. And not that I stalk them or anything, but I notice when they aren't here as much. At a certain point, even the amount of playful goofing around lessens and the fun goes away, because there is not just less intelligent discussion (or it's being drowned out by the asshats, retards and social misfits), there is almost NO intelligent discussion... even for a porn based board. Not to speak for her, but I think that's what Briana and others are talking about. Contrary to what some may think, it has nothing to do with being able to give & take. I'll match wits, win or lose, with most anyone. But why the hell would I waste time screaming at a barking dog? Do you know this old saying? "Argue with a fool long enough, and eventually, onlookers will not be able to tell which of you is the fool." IMO, Dirk has simply chosen to take a path that avoids any confusion.

I had fathomite stalking me for a while. And there was someone else whose name I can't remember who seemed to wait by his keyboard for me to post...anything. I didn't let these shitbags affect what i posted, let alone run me off. And I'm a guy who has never considered using the Ignore function, and think it's for wussies. Fuck 'em.

Don't like/don't click has been the policy of this board since the beginning. Petra has said so any number of dozens of times. I've seen legions of active members say it themselves......until they click on something they don't like.

Long time members have left this board with and without explanation loooong before Sam showed up. And we were talking about it looooong before Sam showed up. I was there.

Sure, I understand what you're saying. All I'm saying is, in the nearly three years that I've been here, it seems that more than a few intelligent, witty, fun (whatever) members and OCSM's have left because of asshats... and not JUST Sam. Although he likes for everything to be about him, he is just a (prime) example of what I'm talking about. Hell, these days, Baconsalt would be allowed to stay and post poo thread after poo thread - and he was actually kind of funny. Gross, but occasionally funny.

Like I said, trying to "out shout" an idiot just confuses people as to which of you is the bigger fool. And once an individual decides that a board is all about that sort of idiot behavior, maybe it's better to just not visit it anymore. Not that I've ever made any sort of grand contribution to any forum, but there are sports car and racing forums that I no longer visit, simply because they were at some point taken over by idiots. The forum that I've been on the longest (about 13 years) is a racing and car site where I'm a senior member and I, along with a handful of others, pay to maintain the site. You have to be invited to join and you can be "uninvited" (not necessarily banned) if you show yourself to be the sort of person that isn't good for the site. A quorum of five senior members there decides the fate of those who begin to get out of hand. I'm not suggesting that here. But (IMHO), this site has edged closer to XXX Porn #### territory in recent months - and that is sad.

But yeah, people come & go all the time. And when there aren't enough intelligent posters (including OCSM's) to converse with, I'm outta here too.

the difference between people like dirk trolling and the others that we complain about is that most of the regulars like seeing dirk around because he also posts funny stuff and quality stuff and is a good all around part of the community whereas the real trolls are just obnoxious and unoriginal...there's a subtle yet substantial difference

I agree with Briana, Rey C etc, since this whole 'anything goes' era has started, fun on here is at an all time low. I know what admin are trying to do but I honestly think it's starting to backfire on them. I think the problem was, a lot of people simply did not get that dirk was simply having fun. What might seem like trolldom to one on the outside is simply dirk poking fun with another poster. BlueBalls does it a lot, as well. Sure he would jump on the asses of the likes of Will and Sam...but honestly, they deserved it for their own narrow-mindedness.
His humor is unmatched and the absence of such makes the forum quite empty...and I for one will miss his posts which linked us towards the beauty of nature.
