Well...
the best thing about a Republic is that (in theory) you never elect a truly awful guy...

unfortunately, you never get a choice of the best guy (oops, or gal).

i still can't figure out how an Arkansan governor is the best guy in the world, but an Alaskan governor is a boob (oops)...

Hillary can kiss any shot at the Presidency goodbye now... if women had turned out for she or Sarah in the manner of the ethnic exit polls she would've been the one waving & saying 'let's heal & work together'

By and large, the biggest problems we get into are when the Executive AND Legislative branches are in the same hands, whatever side of the aisle, so the biggest risk is not who is President, but what will get ramrodded through without proper thought... like bankrupting coal companies & allowing electrical rates to 'skyrocket'

sigh

My biggest hope is that we can stop hearing how racist America is now... sure there are a handful of emptyheaded bigots... some in unfortunately important positions. But it seems kind of hard to argue that it is a pervasive or inhibiting issue considering who holds the highest office in the land....

& my kin hail from Ireland & Scotland, so my ancestors were under the thumb of someone else, too!

Congrats, President Obama, now do us proud!

That says it all!!!

There is an old saying, "Be CAREFUL what you wish for, you just might get it!"

I can't wait to see how all the obama fans feel a year from now with all the crap he has said he will do.

Hope you enjoyed your freedom, it will start dying slowly in January! :(

One thing I can say. YOU CAN'T BLAME ME! I didn't vote for his sorry ASS.

Please stop the theactrics

McCain coming on.

Excellent statement of concession, a real gentleman despite the mob and blank minds he led. He appeared to be crying.

Personally I'm glad to believe I can start to like and respect him again. I wish him a very long and happy life.

Obama 333 - 155

I don't like McCain, but I thought the speech that he just gave was a really classy way to go out. No jokes, I thought that was really classy.

I'm not a fan of people who make race an issue, but...

We're going to have our first black President. That's a HUGE deal for this country. I know that "anything can happen", but hopefully this will be a step in the right direction when it comes to skin color and how meaningless it is.

This should be interesting - and hopefully fun! I'm old enough to remember seeing the news that Martin Luther King had just been murdered. And now a Black man has been elected president. I understand why Jesse Jackson is weeping about that.

But Obama's shown a remarkable desire to bring people together and to aim for doing things that are in the interests of the vast majority of people in this country - instead of "threading the needle" of some stitched-together coalition of interests group. I believe that's why he has the election victory that he does - especially when you compare his campaign to the divisive campaign of McCain/Palin.

Now we get to see if he governs the same way. He's gonna have to smack Nancy Pelosi and similar types down the same way that he has prevented his crowds from booing the other side. And I'm sure that a lot of people are going to be pissed off at him for not being more radical than centrist. But I hope that he moves to govern in the same way that he has campaigned.

If nothing else, I'll be looking forward to a government that has more interest in governing than it does in crawling into the bedrooms of ordinary people.

I don;t know if anyone is aware, but hundreds of people are apparently gathering infront of the White House yelling things at Bush. They were saying it was in the middle of the peaceful/violent demonstration...

And someone had a USSR flag. WTF.

Okay, now that the shit has hit the fan. . . I wonder if the French will like Americans again now that we elected a peace loving African American president?

:dunno:

I concur but he wouldnt wanna be the sore loser and seem inferior.
At least he has dignity unlike a lot of others.

Well Colorado seems to have gone democrat also, one of the few good things was the defeat of that ridiculous definition of a person ammendment #48.

It just shows you what kind of guy McCain is. It's too bad he didn't win in 2000 instead of the current [GOP] fuck up in Washington.
