Election 2008

It just shows you what kind of guy McCain is. It's too bad he didn't win in 2000 instead of the current [GOP] fuck up in Washington.

Absolutely the better choice! Absolutely no doubt!

Obama jsut came on stage, can't wait to hear what he says. If the hype is anything to believe this is gonna be one HELL of a speech...

I don't like McCain, but I thought the speech that he just gave was a really classy way to go out. No jokes, I thought that was really classy.

Same here. I'm not a McCain fan at all, but I give him credit, he went out in style. I remember Al Gore's concession speech in 2000 (which should've been a victory speech), and I was impressed by how we went out.

He's one of the most eloquent and charismatic speakers in the 21st century, which added to his popularity. He drew the crowds of John Kennedy in Berlin.

Well, it wasn't as iconic as I hoped, but it was a great speech.

yeah I'm watching it too, he sure is talking about race alot.
skin color.
I wonder why that is important at this moment......

He didn't mention race a lot. Only when he talked about how it didn't matter what color a person's skin was, what sexual orientation they had (etc) and when he talked about that 106 year old woman. Other than that, he didn't focus on race what-so-ever.

No?

Well Colorado seems to have gone democrat also, one of the few good things was the defeat of that ridiculous definition of a person ammendment #48.

Yeah, a lot of the really backwards ammendments are going down - except here in schizo California where the anti-gay-marriage proposition is leading, last I looked. People are freaking nuts sometimes - like it's an imposition on straight people if 2 men or 2 women want to marry each other - let 'em! Who cares? It's none of anybody else's damned business!

I think that's obvious.

Maybe if the republican party wasn't such a nest of racists and actually had minority members in prominent positions than you guys would've had a better day today.

You guys made your bed. Now lay in it.

Congratulations to Barack Obama and the Democratic Party. I did not vote for him. Not because he is black, but because my top issues are the War and national security. On the other hand, I would have loved to have played a part in making history by casting my vote for him and helping him become the first black President. But after much thought, I realized that doing so would be just as racist of a vote as not voting for Obama because he is black.

I followed this election very closely. I realize that many are proud and excited that they lived during the time that the first black president was elected. However, what many people seem to forget is that two months ago, after the Republican National Convention, the McCain-Palin ticket was in the lead. What took place in those two months was one of the worst economic crises in United States as well as World Economic History. American peoples disapproval of Washington quickly turned into disgust. President Bush as a historically low approval rating. Barack Obama \ raised an unprecedented amount of money and received almost unconditional support from much of the media. Even SNL could not bring itself to make fun of Barack Obama even though it made fun of all three of the other candidates in this race.

These above mentioned factors as well as Obama's charisma and exceptional rhetorical capabilities and above all his near flawless and futuristic political campaign should have resulted in a landslide election.

As much as we should be proud of ourselves for the progress we have made as Americans in narrowing the racial divide that has plagued this country since its inception, we must also understand that there are still a lot of people in this country, mainly in the South that did not vote for Obama because he is black.

We should not feel that we have realized racial equality because a black president was elected under the most favorable of circumstances.

Just my :2 cents:

Noooooooo!

Recount - Recount !!!!!!!!!
:tongue::rolleyes:

Seriously - though.
I supported McCain and wanted him to win.
but I also though both candidates were right for the job.
listening to the radio and TV I find it amazing the press that painted him with glowing adoration, is now berating him after only hours of him winning.
I think Barack Obama has an imposible task in front of him.
I think he will make a good president and I think he deserves credit and support.
I'm giving him more than a chance.
