Donald Trump

Re: Trump Says "I'll win the Latino Vote!"

I think you just criticized Trump for the very things that politicians are doing now at this very moment. I am very aware of the fact that he could be playing a portion of the electorate. But the fact remains is that there are a lot of people attacking him right now. If he were truly some bad actor or Democrat mole, he wouldn't have lost 50 million and counting in the past month in partnerships, media and endorsements. I know what we are going to get with a Bush or Clinton, at least with Trump there is a chance he will do what he campaigns on.

Too many people attacking him on both sides not to at least consider what he has to say and give him a chance to prove himself

Re: Trump Says "I'll win the Latino Vote!"

There are other parties! This is the reason our government is so fucked up. Republicans and Democrats have been bought and paid for by the same billionaires and corporations. No matter which "side" is in charge they get their way.

I'm so sick of this bullshit and people lapping it up like it's gospel. Both sides may be stuck playing the game, but that doesn't make them the same. More than once, the senate has voted on a bill to overturn citizens united, with Democrats voting unanimously for it and Republicans against. We all agree that getting big money out of politics is a good first step to unfucking some things, right? Only one side wants that to happen.

Sure. Maybe. Anything is possible.

BTW, I want a pony for Christmas while we're at it.

If it's true vintage, I'd use it for a down payment/trade on a Series 1.5 E-type. :)

Re: Trump Says "I'll win the Latino Vote!"

Trump is a clown. Yes he says he believes what everyone else on the right believes but his history says drastically otherwise. He's been pro-gun control, pro choice, pro-universal health care and pro-Clinton for years. He's a dickhead rich boy who has an ego the size of texas, so of course the republicans love him, even if it costs them millions of votes they can't afford to lose.

And yes I vote in local elections. I also wish that there was a complete overhaul of our electoral system. The electoral college has to go. Its outdated an no longer makes any sense. Popular election is all we need. Of course the right can't have that because it would nail the coffin shut even faster. Same with the amount of representation in the state. How is it sensible the rhode island or delaware or vermont has the same number of representatives as California that has 40 million people?

But as of today, this is what we have. You go ahead and vote 3rd party but what might end up happening is your guy gets 10% and causes the better candidate to lose and we go backwards 50 years. Until its changed I'm picking a side that has a shot. Don't like it? Fuck yourself.

Did you even take a civics class back in school? California has over 50 Representatives in Congress. Rhode Island, Delaware and Vermont each have one. Each state does have two Senators. The reason for this is that the founding fathers knew enough to put a check in place so that high population states couldn't just steamroll over lower population states. As far as your I want to be on the winning side attitude, voting for the lesser of two evils is still voting for evil.

Re: Trump Says "I'll win the Latino Vote!"

I was referring to Senators. I think its ridiculous that a state with 40 million people should have the same number of senators as a state with 400,000. The people aren't being fairly represented this way. No I never took civics in school.

I don't think Bernie Sanders or anyone who thinks as he does is evil. And I didn't say I voted to be on the winning side. I vote to be on the side I agree with the most that has a shot at winning. I would love to see Ralph Nader be president but voting for him takes away from someone I also agree with who has a shot at winning. If Ted Cruz were likely to win I wouldn't vote for him so your finger wagging is inaccurate in this instance.

So you are saying that higher population states should dictate policies onto smaller states. So what if you lived in a small state and the bigger states pushed through a bunch of conservative policies? You wouldn't be very happy would you? Checks and balances are there for a reason.

Re: Trump Says "I'll win the Latino Vote!"

OK kiddies, Do you know why third party candidates are not part of the Presidential debates? The Commission on Presidential Debates (CPD) has a rule that candidates must average 15% in popular polls. The problem is that these polls do not have to have any third party candidates as an option. Simple math tells us that it is impossible to get 15% if nobody is asking about the other candidates. Both the Green party candidate Dr. Jill Stein and Libertarian party candidate Gov. Gary Johnson were on enough state ballots to win the last election. However, neither was a part of any Presidential debate. The last third party candidate to participate in a Presidential debate was Ross Perot and under the current guidelines he would not have qualified.

Re: Trump Says "I'll win the Latino Vote!"

Isn't that referred to as the "Perot Rule" in some circles? And if I'm not mistaken, that was the last time that our two major (crooked) parties engaged in a cooperative lovefest with each other. It was nice to see that both had an equal hand in throttling the democratic process though.

Re: Trump Says "I'll win the Latino Vote!"

Yes, because after he was part of the debate, polls showed that Perot "won" the damn thing. Of course Republicans blamed Perot for funneling off votes that would have went for Bush. Democrats didn't want anybody doing the same thing to them in the next cycle.

Re: Trump Says "I'll win the Latino Vote!"

when the house votes for NATIONAL policy and Wyoming has the same amount of sway that California has, it's bullshit. Senate representation should be the same as congress, based on population.
OK lets do a little simple math here. California has 51 Representatives in the House and 2 Senators, that's 53. Wyoming had 1 Representative and 2 Senators, that's 3. So how in the hell does Wyoming have as much sway as California? To put it into simple terms, you want higher population states (which typically lean blue) to be able to bully smaller (typically red) states.
Correct, which was my reference earlier. The third party candidate won't get any money because of the Perot issue. No party wants to see that happen to them. He took 19% of the vote I think which many say would have mostly gone to Bush I

There will be a new party eventually I'd like to see a progressive party candidate.

They won't get any money because people like you won't demand another option. In any other field this would be called collusion and would be illegal. I'm not trying to be a dick, I'm just tired of hearing people talk about wanting change and doing nothing to change things themselves. Drawing hard party lines does not get anything fixed. I'm sure that you can piece together what party that I most closely align with, but I'm not pushing that agenda onto anybody. I want all voices to be heard and policies put into place based more on a consensus than a majority.

Can we get back on topic? Are you thinking he WILL win over a major part of what is called the"Latino Community"? And: How so?

I think he is just throwing out every bait he can cook up to keep himself on top of the headlines, which seems to be the surest shot to come in hot into the FOX debates in short time. He would get back into the wrestling ring or make a record with Kanye if his aides would tell him that is a good idea.

He might get some of the hardcore conservative, older Cuban votes down in Florida. He might get some of the "White" Mexican votes, that's been in the U.S. for several generations. He might get some other Hispanic/Latino votes here and there. But his chances of actually winning the Latino vote are about as good as David Duke's chances of winning the Black vote, IMO. Some of what he said was accurate. But words matter. And his choice of words was very inflammatory and poorly chosen. He didn't just poison the well for himself, with respect to Hispanics. I think he poisoned the well for the GOP to a large degree - and that's why the RNC has asked him to STFU already. As we used to say in sports, he's the best player the other team has got.

Like I said, as the years have gone by, Trump has gone from someone who would make bold statements (and could still get things done) to someone who now just makes outrageous statements, designed mostly just to keep his name in the headlines. He wants to be seen as a Teddy Roosevelt or Ross Perot like politician. But he's becoming more like a [NOBABE]Sarah Palin[/NOBABE] or [NOBABE]Michele Bachmann[/NOBABE] type politician: a sideshow clown that hurts more than he helps.

Trump better watch his back, El Chapo is coming for him. In English it translates to " Continue fucking around and I will make you swallow all your whore words fucking white guy"
