Alan White, long time drummer of Yes, one of my favorite bands, died at 72, after a brief battle with an unnamed illness. I've seen him with Yes a couple of times.

R.I.P. Mr. White
He also played drums in the John Lennon / Yoko Ono / Plastic Ono Band (Lennon, Ono, Eric Clapton, Klaus Voorman, and Alan White) -- Live Peace In Toronto, 1969 album.

Yeah, I didn't know that until I read the article.

Ya know, I don't think I ever mentioned this to you, mainly because we get along, even though we do disagree on some political issues, HOWEVER,
I fear this might be worse.

I can't stand John Lennon's solo music, or anything he did after "The Beatles". I'm sorry, I know from your name/avatar what you must think of me, but I just can't help it.
I love The Beatles, and McCartney and Harrison solo work, and think Harrison was so dis respected as a writer and musician, and I just have a feeling, it was Lennon.

I truly hope you can forgive me.

My avatar is of George Harrison. The reason why John Lennon never wanted to assist George Harrison in songwritting was because he didn't want the hassle of helping Paul and also George. Though his contribution to the lyrics of "Taxman" was "declare the pennies on your eyes."

I'll end it with this.

I forgive you. :)

💯 % agree. “Imagine” would be immediately changed whenever it got played on the radio. (My kids commented on my slowness one time when it got about 3 seconds of airtime. Traffic must have been distracting me.) The sentiment I can agree with, but the song itself just turns me off.

@ John) I guess my eyes are getting worse. I thought it might be, but the bowl hair do kind of fucked me up. I never knew a reason WHY George seemed to be getting put to the side, but you would think Paul would hook a brother up. I will say this about Lennon. He was a decent piano player, better then his guitar playing actually. I also think Harrison's playing was underrated. As far as Ringo goes, meh, but here's a little tidbit you might not know. Carl Palmer, of E.L.P fame, at one time owned a one piece all aluminum drum kit. Ringo now owns it, or did not sure who he bought it from or if he still owns it. I will also say, a few years ago, my wife wanted to go see McCartney, she's a huge Beatles fan, so we paid a metric shit ton of cash, for 2 average seats, and I gotta say, he jammed, and he played for a good couple of hours, and he did a lot of good Beatles material. Worth every penny. Not in my top ten, but certainly in hers. Plus I won $300 bucks at the roulette table at our casino, so the seats were free!. And I'm relieved you forgive me, and understand.

@ Gmase) For me, I think it's the droning sound of his voice in his solo music. Nothing like his more "perky" voice, from Beatles songs. As far as Yoko goes, I never heard anything come out of her, that makes me believe she's even slightly talented. I do not however think she had anything to do with the break up, other then possibly encouraging her man, that he was talented, and capable, which is technically the right thing to do. I do believe Lennon was talented, and a great figure in music history, but not quit as good as he was credited to be.

EDIT: Oh yeah, I "HEARD" somewhere, that some of the lyrics to "Imagine", were lifted by John, from Yoko's song writing efforts.

Yoko had songwriting talents? Since when? Other than making strange sounds in a bag.

Early in the Pandemic, I came across this ...

Truly a Beatles fan, who like most of us, blamed the breakup on poor Yoko.

Maybe it was a poem, and John turned it into a lyric, I just heard it somewhere.

Well, that's how Jim Morrison did it....but with a good voice, and musical talent.

"And there was nothing we could do about it. Death was a made man, and Ray wasn't. We had to sit there and take it. It was among the legends, it was real Academy shit. They even made Ray die in his sleep so his mother couldn't give him an open coffin at the funeral."

RIP Ray Liotta

Geez. I just put up "Summer Breeze" in wmonbear's World Class Nudes Contest.
All the classics are disappearing....sort of like the WWII vets. They've all gotten to that age, or at least most of them. I still can't figure out how Keith Richards is outliving them all.

Sorry about that Bubb.

Today would have been Les Paul's birthday, he was born in 1915, he would be 107 if her were still alive....and probably still shredding the frets.

The last of an era. I felt this man deserved to be here, I hope you all do. I would have started a thread just for him, but I was afraid it would end up buried, and the man wouldn't get the respect he as so bravely earned. Rest in peace corporal Williams, you have earned it, and then some. Thank you for your service to this country.
