Best cover song

The concensus best cover usually seems to be Jimi Hendrix covering Bob Dylan's "All Along The Watchtower". A lot of artists seem to make great covers of Dylan songs, the Byrds version of "Mr Tambourine Man" comes to mind.

I always liked Nazareth's cover of Joni Mitchell's "This Flight Tonight" and CSN did a great version of Joni's "Woodstock".

For a really wild cover, check out Sonic Youth doing "Superstar", the Carpenters song.

Van Halen did great covers of the KInks "You Really Got Me" and "Where Have All The Good Times Gone".

And The Beatles did some great covers themselves... "Twist And Shout" by the Isley Brothers certainly was one of their best.

Oh... and back to Hendrix, sort of... Stevie Ray Vaughn did great versions of "Voodoo Chile" and "Little Wing".

Aerosmith - Come Together is probably the best cover ever. It is so good, people don't realize it is a cover.

Any cover version by crappy metal bands should be erased from history!! They are usually lazy & never stand up to the original.
