Best cover song

Decided to bump this thread, since we had one making the rounds for "Worst ever cover songs", and I was about to make one for "best ever" when I found this.

To reiterate, my favorite cover song is Marilyn Manson's "Sweet Dreams". I also really like Jimi Hendrix's "All Along the Watchtower".

Santana - Oye Como Va (Tito Puente)

Oh god, there's loads. GSBird just mentioned one of my favourites, ******* In The Jar by Metallica.

This is one of my favourite songs in general, not just covers: Premium Link Upgrade (Originally by Mississippi Fred McDowell) Ignore the video, it's just home-made ****.

I'd like to add one but I can't give you any links. It is some kind of oddity... and hard to find.

Neil Young's Southern man cover by Dave Clark and friends

When the DC5 splitted, Dave Clark and Mike Smith formed a group with Alan Parker, a blues singer Madeline Bell and some other guy. They made a LP of all kind of stuff (from very bad to bad) but among them there is this amazing cover of Southern Man. Nobody would think it is the DC5, the end of the song sounds more like Steppenwolf.

I will survive - Cake, redoing the Gloria Gaynor disco song

She's A Woman - Jeff Beck doing the Beatles song.

The White Album, redone by FISH

Well I have a few fav's:

Jimi Hendrix - All Along the Watchtower (Bob Dylan)

Cream - Crossroads (Robert Johnson)

Hallelujah - Jeff Buckley (Leonard Cohen)

And last but not least:
Lucy in the Sky with Diamonds - William Shatner (The Beatles) :nanner:

I don't know about best cover song, but I think that Korn's version of the "Another Brick in the Wall" trilogy deserves a special mention. Not necessarily great, but it's a good overall effort.
