Question for a British person:
Is Clive Anderson as cool as I think he is?
Not to us, he isn't. But he's pretty cool really. Just a bit of a clever trousers.

Is it considered gay if I ask for my beer to be served cold in a pub?
It seems to be the trend now to serve beers "extra cold". Seems pretty pointless to me as it takes away the flavour, especially the extra cold guinness. Whoever thought of that should be shot.
Hi
Does "Harp Lager" still get sold?
What's happening with Jade Goody these days?

Depends on what pubs you go into, and the bartender, usually all our beer is served cold (from the local's here) and you'll get surved by a student.

Don't think so, I also miss the old Hofmiester "follow the bear ads", I think they got me interested in lager as a wee nipper!Hi

would you say top gear is better then 5th gear ???
IF you can find a pub these days....they're closing in droves, apparently...
Oh no. I had no idea. I'm glad I asked. I would hate to hear my life is to be shortened suddenly. I wish all the best for Jade and her family.
That wasn't what I meant. I was actually wishing that Jade should go to Hell.
Sorry.
Why do the British lose their accent when they sing?
Those annoying tossers Robbie Williams and Elton John sing in strong fake American accents. Also, why do people think Hugh Laurie's accent in House is good? It's mediocre.
The "Ripper" murders occurred at a time when the police force was evolving into something more "modern" and forensics etc were in infancy! It was the end of an era when cholera, for example, was beginning to be sussed by concluding that victims were drinking from the same public taps.
There might have been more than one murderer.
There were similar murders happening in Whitechapel (East End) and in Southwark (just South of the river Thames).
What made the murders different to other late Victorian crimes was their violence: other killings at the time were normally to do with money.
It is thought that the killer might have been a doctor or surgeon.
It is also thought that the killer might have been a nobleman/royalty.
Files in Scotland Yard pointing to his identity are alleged to point to royalty.
There were hoaxes involved.
The whole situation brought to light the plight of the poor - especially women - in Victorian London. Rather like a Dickens novel.
The murders are oft seen as those of the first known "serial killer."
The murders tell us much about Victorian prudence, sexual forbidding, hypocrisy and the vulnerability, and lack of statute among the urban poor at the time.
Ironically, the problem has not gone away.....![]()

Some anatomical knowledge may have been present, but most learned scholars think Jack didn't need to be a surgeon and wasn't that skilled anyway.
As for the nobleman/royalty issue... utter rubbish.
More realistic suspects are.....
William Bury (strangled and stabbed his wife to death)
Aaron Kosminski (insane)
James Kelly (stabbed his wife in the neck. she died)
Hyam Hyams (attacked more than 1 with a knife)
