Newt Gingrich digs himself a deep hole
It was Hillary Clinton, back in 2007, who said there are no do-overs in life. That is especially true for politicians. If there were, Newt Gingrich would be grasping for the opportunity.
Gingrich’s presidential hopes have always been problematic, given his controversial history. The rocky opening to his campaign has made those odds far longer. If he learned from past mistakes, as he claimed shortly before he declared his candidacy, it was not evident in the days that followed his announcement. What will he learn from this week?
Not for the first time in his career, Gingrich is backpedaling. But more than taking back words may be required in this case. Gingrich has undermined his candidacy not simply because, in the eyes of many Republicans, he attacked House Budget Committee Chairman Paul Ryan’s (R-Wis.) plan to reform Medicare. His greater problem is that he reminded people, friend and foe alike, of his inability to keep his rhetoric under control.

Newt Gingrich: The 5 juiciest details from his ex-wife
The potential White House candidate allegedly likes to compare women to cars, and started dating his high school math teacher when he was just 16
Twelve years after leaving Congress under a cloud, Newt Gingrich leads other possible GOP presidential candidates in many polls. The former House speaker has been in public life a long time, so most Americans know something about his politics; but, in a lengthy profile published in Esquire, writer John H. Richardson asks, "Just who is Newton Leroy Gingrich, really?" To uncover the answer, Richardson got Marianne Gingrich, the second of Gingrich's three wives, to sit down for a rare interview. Here are her 5 most shocking claims:
1.)He began dating his math teacher at age 16:
2.)He cheated on his wife, then compared her to a car:
3.)"Family values" don't apply to him:
4.)He borrowed jokes from his ex-wife:
5.)"He's a sociopath, but he's our sociopath":

But what Newt wasn't telling people in 1998 was that Clinton wasn't the only one seeing other women. Gingrich himself was cheating on his wife of 17 years, Marianne Ginther, during the proceedings.
It turns out Mr. Family Values had been seeing Callista Bisek, a woman 23 years his junior, behind his wife's back. But that's OK. You see Gingrich would make an honest woman of Bisek in the end. In 2000, Gingrich divorced Marianne, and married his third wife, Callista.
