Alaska Governor Palin to resign

For the life of me, I can't figure out why democrats were (and continue to be) so rabid over this lady :dunno: Apparently, she was good enough to make her opposition sweat it out there for a while until the stock market tanked, turning a dead heat into an eventual "O"-man victory. I guess that would be pretty horrendous, huh ? The Savior Almighty himself not getting into the Office of the Presidency due to some largely unknown Alaska governor lady ! I think I get it now.

How about if we just say she represents the worst of backward, redneck America and coming after the ruination that was Dubya's presidency, most people assumed that the GOP would take their candidates seriously? McCain wanted Joe Lieberman, who, though a strange backstabber, atleast would've been a credible candidate, and maybe there would be something to the "Bipartisan" claims of McCain/Lieberman:dunno:

Meg Whitman, Carla Fiorina would've actually scared Dems a bit....I just went on Carla Fiorina's wiki and just learned she was diagnosed with Breast cancer in March 2009. Maybe she got a prelim diagnosis back in Aug and that was what eliminated her? She was McCain's Economic Advisor...:dunno:

Racing is life... anything else is just waiting.
Since it seemed apparent that McCain wanted a female running mate (after Lieberman became a no-go for the ultra-conservatives and Club for Growth types), I thought he might select Elizabeth Dole, Kay Bailey Hutchinson... or maybe Meg Whitman. Carly Fiorina's name did come up many times. But Carly had some skeletons in her closet related to her near destruction of Hewlett-Packard a few years earlier... and eventually being fired by the HP BoD.

But there were so, so many more qualified women, who actually had some intellectual depth, for McCain to choose from. As the story continues to unfold, many people (from DNC to RNC, from liberal to conservative) wonder how & why John McCain selected this intellectual lightweight (who apparently has a rather odd temperament) as his running mate, and a potential President of the United States, should anything happen to him. IMO, we dodged a bullet there. I don't think she's stupid (in a learning disabled sense). But I do think she is undereducated and rather ignorant on basic and fundamental subjects, that a potential POTUS should be well versed on.

I think McCain ever the whimsical politician (mis)calculated that Obama was going to select Clinton as his VEEP. The excitement generated by both during the primaries was a dynamic he believed he needed to trump.

What better way to do so than pick a popular, attractive woman to oppose Clinton with?

The problem with picking someone only days after meeting with them is you don't get to find out they're an airhead soon enough. Whoops.

Well, yeah... there's that. :rofl2:

Kinda sad, eh? I put more thought into whether or not I want to take a girl to a party than he put into who his running mate would be.

Phil "Enron" Graham as McCain's economic advisor and Sarah "The Brain" Palin as his Veep nominee. And yet, he didn't win. Go figure!

Maybe we can reunite that ticket for 2012? At this point, I'm not sure there will be any Republicans left standing on a firm moral ground...:dunno:

Oh I imaging the Grand Obsolete Pachyderms will manufacture someone by then...more than likely it'll be good ol' Mitt "Wheatgrass" Romney....the only other candidate to have more positions on different issues than John "Go(ne) with the Wind" McCain.

But surely they'll prop this stiff up by 2012.

Considering McCain's age that isn't a small concern either.

<chuckle> "He comes the raaaain again...fallin' on my head like a memory" (80's shit is so cool to theme for controveries)...

Speaking of which, Palin would appear to have a problem with memories falling on her head...

Enjoy....

OMG that is scary. To think there are people out there that want this woman to run the damn country. Are these people insane? Do these people hate their country that much?

How about if we just say she represents the worst of backward, redneck America...

Oh, I wouldn't go that far. It gets worse, much worse, sadly.

Someone who is so knee-jerk anti-Commie (without any thoughts deeper than "Commies = Russia, Russia = bad, Commies = bad) and talks about Obama as though he's a Commie, then boasts about distributing state revenue amongst the people of the state...

Someone who believes the Earth is only a few thousand years old...

Someone who thinks they should hold office or leave office based on God's "calling" them...

Someone who sees the Supreme Court merely as a group of people who've made some decisions about abortion in America...

Someone who loves the Bush Doctrine but can't really tell you what it is...

Someone like this might be fully capable of many tasks, many jobs, many careers, but deciding the future course of the United States should not be one of them.

She thought she would resign before all the stories about her and her husband's affairs come out in the media. I love how all these news channels think she's going to run for president. Hell she's the reason McCain lost anyway. I think she left office for far greater reasons then anyone thinks.. lol give it time it will come out. Remember now they built their shiny new home on tax payer contracts.

She's the latest in a growing line of anti-intellectual Republican candidates.....starting with Quayle, accelerating with Bush, then reaching warp speed with Palin.
Pro - intellectual meaning - the usual cookie cutter beltway dwelling, Ivy League Law grad ? How about some "Change" ? ;)

Thank God that . .]
Absolutely forbidden in this forum ! :1orglaugh

C'mon. Didn't GWB dispel any notion that Ivy League and intellectual have anything to do with one another?

Don't give a shi(r)t where Palin's from, she is an imbecile. Mike Huckabee is the most intellectual, articulate, Obsolete Pachyderm GOPers have. And he graduated from Ouachita Baptist University.

Did y'all see this? Apparently Palin is all set to release a "special edition" of her memoirs/bio via Zondervan, a Bible publishing company:

http://www.usnews.com/blogs/god-and...forthcoming-memoir-for-christian-readers.html

Will there also be special editions for fishermen, hunters, military moms, special-needs parents, sexy librarians, and disgraced governors? (Hey, special niche market for Sanford and Spitzer!)

She couldn't name a single news paper or magazine that she uses to keep up with current events. The bad press she gets has less to do with her political alignment, but rather with the fact that she's a complete airhead. She doesn't belong in politics and she isn't capable of running a state, as we now see.

She was never popular because of her politics, she was popular because of her image. The line between celebrity and politician is getting very close, to the point where people wanted her to win because she looks cute.
