We all know that Obama is counting on non-US citizens votes to win a third term...


Since none of them are neither democratic nor republican voters, I don't understand how can it be about votes.

We're not talking about thugs and criminals, these people are not drug dealers nor ISIS terrorists. These people are workers, these people have kids who are US citizens or legal immigrants, these people have been in the country for at least 5 years, these people have no criminal record, these people pay their taxes.
These people have made great efforts to integrate into American society, to adopt the "american way of life", it would be unfair not to recognize these efforts and return to where they came from

"secure our motherfucking borders" doesn't solve much since many fly into the US on tourist or student visas and just don't leave.
How are you going to legally deport more of them, if they don't tell you where they are from? I'm not being a smart ass here, it's a question I asked my cousin who is a prosecutor for ICE on the US/Mexico border. Even if they catch someone 1/2 mile from the border, no paperwork and only speak Spanish that's not enough evidence to deport them to Mexico. Mexico doesn't take everyone the US doesn't want, they have to say they are Mexican.
The President didn't make any law yesterday it was "deportation protection"/"Deferred Action" not amnesty. It's legal and FAR LESS than what Reagan did in '86 or Bushs. If Congress doesn't like it they can just pass a law.

Yeah it doesn't stop the ones flying in so don't secure the borders as good as we can against those flying in. Heck, 10 year olds are crossing the Rio Grande on rafts and getting into the country. I don't know if this is synonymous with "assimilate" but Hispanics do fill a need that we have. Living in Los Angeles is expensive enough. If you removed the cheap Hispanic labor/lower income employees who knows how much it would cost to live here. I'm usually of the opinion that people should be able to move around freely - but with that opinion another, and that's that if one has decided to move away from their country to another, they shouldn't be trying to turn the new country into the old one. Then what the hell was the point of leaving? Now this doesn't mean not bringing along one's culture - this sort of cultural exchange enriches us all, and that includes language. But exchange goes both ways.

Which is all to say, I agree that people coming to the US should be learning English. I do not think that should be required or legislated; just that people should. Just as people going to France should learn French, people going to Germany should learn German*.
