2007 MLB Thread

If I wasn't so distrustful of men, I'd say we start a wager on the NL Central.

However, I don't trust any man.

Maybe I can appoint Senob my proxy in this.

If you thought all men were crazy to might just get them to make a bet on the Cubs. :D Now that would be insane.

How about those Nationals? ;)

At least the Mets are still in the lead.
As a Phillie fan, I have to be a Cardinal and Brewer fan tonight and a Marlin and Brewer fan over the weekend. It sucks having to hope other teams lose.

Well I bet Manny is happy tonight! Mets lose with Pedro on the mound.:eek: Phillies win. It's all tied up.:eek:

On a non-playoff note, I was checking out the standings and I just noticed something. Though they are not making the playoffs, it arguable that Seattle got EXTREMELY lucky this season. They are 11 games over .500 despite the fact of having scored 27 less total runs than their opponents over the course of the season. A lot of tight wins and big losses. Shows you gotta win the close ones. Possibly a good bullpen? Just an anomaly, but interesting.

'Gonna be a crazy interesting weekend for the National League. So many teams have a shot at the divisons AND/OR wildcard. What happens if more than 3 or 4 teams tie???

JAYS IN '08!!!!

I'm almost hoping for one-game playoffs (especially for my fiancee's Brewers that would be a very good thing). Very exciting. The last time MLB had one for the wild card was 1999. The last time for a division win was 1995.

I'm a little scared if my Mets' chances depend on one game against the Phils!

^^^ i disagree with the previous post so much :cussing:

lets turn that "almost" into a "not"

me too. i **** one game playoffs.

Well it's all personal opinion.

How would guys you resolve a tie? By the teams record against each other? :1orglaugh I think there is a good reason they don't do it that way. Because they're still tied and one gets to go and the other doesn't. At least the playoff eliminates the tie.

PS--Kudos to the Rockies for winning 11 games in a row to make a run at it.

If what you guys were referring to was that you'd rather have the division won outright, then I apologize. Personally I'm on the fence myself as to whether I would rather see a division won outright or in a playoff.

Also, I should clarify. I would rather see a best-of-three playoff for the division than a one game. Anything CAN and DOES happen in one game. I feel MLB does it this way in the interest of time though.

i'd prefer the teams play a 5 game series. They play 162 games so another 3-5 games wouldn't make much of a difference. It would delay the official playoffs by a few days, but when the reg. season is over it should be over.

One game doesn't ever determine whos' team is better. The D-Rays would get the nod on the Yankees all the time if that was the case. One game playoffs are not for baseball.

I'm thinking I want my Cubs to face the Mets. That rivalry has been dead for a loooong ass time!

Well I think come Monday, you all will see an even more kindler, gentler CA when my Cubs take the pennant.

 He's got you there, Ape! I didn't even notice the semantics error. Unless you're referring to some "in" the Cubs have with Selig. Which would explain the Brewers bowing aside?

PS-I agree that a Mets-Cubs series would be great fun!

Yeah, he got me good...real good!

And I'm surprised Bud hasn't pulled some crap again, to hinder the Cubs and favor the Brew Crew...his favorite team. But I guess it aint over.

Just in:
Selig Declares Adjustment
Commissioner Bud Selig has just announced that if the Milwaukee Brewers and Chicago Cubs end the season in a tie for the National League Central Division lead, the Brewers will be awarded the Division title and subsequent playoff berth. Selig cites the reason for this change as "in the name of competitiveness, and in the spirit of the game."
