2007 MLB Thread

i called this in june. :)
i joined late july :D

yeah, im going to have to disagree. :1orglaugh

i would've thought you would be more optimistic. their ridiculously small chance of advancing would improve in a 7-game series.

I don't think Cleveland is the better team, but I would still give them a 35-40% chance of winning a series. It wouldn't be unthinkable. Also the fewer games in a series the better it is for the weaker team. Over more games things like luck and weird bounces even out and the better team will usually win more.

cleveland is the hottest team. momentum is everything. we will see who has it in two weeks. something tells me cleveland will not slow down.

As a former player myself, I will 100% agree...momentum is everything. The only thing though is this:

Cleveland Indians. Key word, CLEVELAND.

I lived there for 20+ years and spent the whole time telling myself, "Well, there's always next year."

so did boston and so did white sox fans.

Congratulations to IAF and the Indians! Well deserved for the team with the (could it really be true) best record in baseball!

On a note hitting closer to home for me, the Mets had a dramatic win in Florida today. Coupled with a Philly loss (only their second in eleven games) the mets go up 2 1/2 games on the Phils.

they better not have best record. unless the red sox collapse even more and slip to the card. id like nothing better than to avoid the yankees in a five game series.

*off topic*
what was that in San Diego..? The manager tackled one his players on the field :dunno:

That was crazy. Milton Bradley flipped out at the umpires, his manager tried to restrain him. Now he's got a hurt knee from being tackled by his own manager. I have never seen that before.

According to Milton Bradley the 1st base umpire told a lie to the other umpires.
The ump alledgedly accused Milton of throwing a bat at him all the way from homeplate after striking out. Then when Milton reached 1st the umpire ended calling him a piece of shit and riding him during the at-bat, then he ejected Bradley for being pissed off.

Then the Padres Manager came out to restrain Bradley and ended tackling him to the turf and injuring Bradley's knee.

That's just wrong.. if this is true Selig should ban this fuck of an umpire from the majors.

Here's a decent article about the incident. Seems that 1st base coach Bobby Meacham heard it all. This gives both sides of the story.
Bradley Brou-ha-ha
Seems to me as well that this was unfair on the part of the umpire. Of course, MLB probably has to go with the umpire's side of the story though, which is crappy. Unfortunate incident.

Oh no, a Met fan. Too bad the Phillies can't play the Mets everyday. They're fun to beat.

Undoubtedly the Phils would make alot of ground up that way. It's amazing the Mets may well win the division while having had a terrible record against the team right behind them. How often does that happen?
