I was there about 11 years ago. I think there was two because at Arlington Natl. there is one soldier and that was what I noticed. I would think in most cases the honor guard would be active military.

I've been to the War Memorial when I went to Ottawa. My thoughts are to the soldier's family and to those wounded except the gunman of course.

No not really. It seems they took McNeil-Lerner hour and expanded it with a few more reporters. I think everything changed when news was put in the same Nielsen rating as entertainment. Once that happened the news had to compete with talk shows, reruns, and entertainment news.

The closest I found was PBS NewsHour.
