what is your favorite ****?

It is cheaper, and you have a lot more control over your end product.

Sorry to derail this thread. It's still relevant to the topic. My favourite **** is what I brew.

How many hops do you need to get a good batch of lager going? My folks have a bunch of hops growing behind their garage. I would imagine it's not nearly enough to make a keg of some sort (8 or 16gal).

it doesnt take much man. i used a couple tablespoons for a 5 gallon batch i think.

of course, its up to your taste and if you dry-hop also.

Really an excellent question. This is such a personal thing - I like LOTS of hops, as I like my **** crisp, but there is a formula. Have a look here and see if this helps:

They have a lot of hops back there for it being a house on a city alley. **** is going pretty good with no attention at all. I love the smell of those fresh hops though.

Anyone try sublimeily self-righteous by stone brewing company? That **** by is the best.
Arrogant Bastard Ale and Stone Ruination IPA --- :drool2::drool2:

I pretty much only drink IPA, Lager and Pale ale.

Dogfish, Lagunitas, Full Sail (IPA), Magic Hat, Cigar City IPA (:drool2:)

Sam Adams Boston Lager is a fav as is Winter Lager.

Try to find yourself a good brown ale. It's good for hot or cold weather.

The smaller clubs around the cities here have their fancy micro brews and **** like that. Sometimes the clubs can pack as many as 10K (maybe more???) and I assumed you worked shows that size. Absolutely any large venue, large act is going to have your garden variety **** on tap for whatever outrageous prices they charge for a watered down 16oz now.

But I drink way too much to drink all that fancy **** you listed. Usually if I'm hitting it hard (and I don't really do that anymore) I grab The *****. For a fancier get-together I will get some Heini'. It's just crazy how unbelievably much **** prices have risen since I was first legal about 10 years ago. We used to get 40oz cases (12) of Red Bull for $12 only about 10 years ago. Get like six of us lifted off our asses. Now they are three times as much. There was a large shortage on hops not long ago but also the economy contributed to it. Also the "sin tax."

First of all, a place with a capacity of 10,000 is by no standards considered a club, let alone a small club. Hell, the Fillmore is considered large by club standards, and it has a capacity of 1,200. 10,000 is a large theater or a small arena.

I have worked from the Independent in San Francisco (~500 capacity), to Golden Gate Park (200,000+ capacity), and everything in between, and I've never seen decent **** sold anywhere.

I drink a fair amount, about a six pack a day, yet I always buy what you call "fancy ****" because I drink **** for the taste, not for the sake of getting fucked up. When it comes to ****, I don't compromise quality for quantity. The only **** water I will willingly drink is PBR, and I only drink that when it's happy hour at the Boom Boom Room and PBR is $2 bucks a bottle.

Mmm... I can't quite say that I agree with that statement. Brown ale is one of my favorite kinds of ****, but it's not something I would drink on a hot day. It's not quite as sweet as a doppelbock, but it has a bit of a sweetish tinge to it that doesn't appeal to me on a hot day.

Premium Link Upgrade is the one I was at the last time they had all premium micro-brews. And to my surprise it is only a capacity of a little over 1K. You're right the larger "arenas" that have concerts with GA usually only get around 10K on the floor.
