NFL '25 Season Thread

Todd Monken to CLE as the new Head Coach. Looks like Harbaugh "went down with the ship" for nothing, in BAL.. Will be interesting to see who Harbaugh goes with as the OC in New York.

The Athletic’s Dianna Russini reports the Browns will hire former Ravens offensive coordinator Todd Monken as the team’s head coach.

Monken, after coaching one of the NFL’s most efficient offenses over the past three seasons, will take over as Cleveland’s head coach after the team had several coaching candidates withdraw their name from consideration in recent days. Monken, 59, was the Browns offensive coordinator back in 2019, when the team ranked 22nd in most yards and points. He’s also served as OC for the Bucs. “By choosing Monken,” Russini said, “the Browns select a respected offensive mind with experience.” It’s not known whether Monken will retain Browns defensive coordinator Jim Schwartz, who was a candidate for the top job.

This kind of thing is why Cleveland is a perennial poverty franchise.

Regarding Anthony's post of the .. Mermaid - yeah.. I saw something this afternoon that said the "No" vote could have been for three reasons: 1) Belichick might coach again in the pros (one-year eligibility for coaches, vs. five for players); 2) the Spygate and Deflategate scandals, and .. yeah 3) all the (negative) publicity around a 70-year old dating a 20-something year old..

(Apparently, ol' Bill is human; unlike how he comes across in his post-game press conferences!)

Whew, didn’t want either team in the SB, had to jinx that ****.

Well .. if Bo Nix played, DEN probably would have won. And .. if LAR didn't muff that punt return - which SEA scored on the fumble .. LAR could have won the other game, too!

Which pornstar is in your av?

When I first saw it, I thought it was Victoria Paris and haven't given it much thought since. Now that you mention it, I am less sure about that.

Vikings fire general manager Kwesi Adofo-Mensah after four seasons. Sam Darnold in the Super Bowl probably didn't help his cause.

Holy **** I thought it might have been Victoria Paris too but thought she looked a bit too old to be her. Same hair and body though.

Cardinals hired Mike LaFleur as their new head coach.

LaFleur entered the NFL’s coaching ranks as an offensive intern with the Browns in 2014, studying under then-OC Kyle Shanahan. LaFleur followed Shanahan to the Falcons in 2015 after accepting an offensive assistant position. Evidently impressed with LaFleur’s development, Shanahan hired LaFleur as the 49ers’ passing game coordinator and wide receivers coach after Shanahan was hired as the team’s head coach in 2017. LaFleur shed the wide receivers coach title in 2019, and later accepted the Jets’ offensive coordinator position in 2021 after former 49ers DC Robert Saleh was hired as the Jets’ next head coach. LaFleur parted ways with the Jets in 2023 and was hired by Rams head coach Sean McVay as the Rams’ offensive coordinator. He has served in that capacity in each of the last three seasons. LaFleur’s offense led the league in yards per play this season (6.1), while using creative play designs featuring play action, shifts and motion. He signed a five-year contract with his new team.

Oh, and BTW - that leaves the remaining 10th HC opening with LVR to .. SEA OC K. Kubiak.

ESPN’s Adam Schefter reports Patriots owner Robert Kraft was not voted into the Pro Football Hall of Fame on the first ballot.

Like Bill Belichick before him, Kraft will be kept out of Canton for at least a year. Unlike Bilichick, it’s not clear that there was a concerted effort to keep Kraft out, though it’s still a puzzling decision by the voters. Kraft bought the team in 1994. Including Sunday’s upcoming game, they have gone on to appear in 11 Super Bowls with six wins under Kraft. A victory over the Seahawks would put New England in sole possession of the league record for Lombardi Trophies, all of which have come under Kraft. New England drafted the greatest quarterback of all time and hired the greatest coach of all time early in Kraft’s tenure as the principal owner. Their dynasty defined football in the 21st century. And yet, neither Kraft nor Belichick is in the Hall of Fame. Curious.

Cuz .. two reaons: Spygate, and Deflategate.

Basically a debate between him and Julius Peppers as the best to ever wear the blue & black. It was an honor to watch him play.

Not much buzz about this years SB.
Donald Trump is not going. He's still :cry::cry: about Green Day, Premium Link Upgrade and other bullsh*t. Mike Johnson apparently is supporting Kidd Rock's MAGA "alternative" halftime show.

These MAGA f*ckers should keep politics out of the Super Bowl. But they can't keep their mouths shut.

I haven't been following it "too" closely, but what I've seen / heard:

1. NE had a cake-walk / is lucky to be there. Easy regular season schedule; their playoff opponents all "had something bad happen to them" / made the competition lesser;

2. SEA QB S. Bradford has not "fallen apart" (yet?) like he did in last year's playoff with MIN, where I think he threw multiple INTs / had FUMbles, and/or horrific completion percentage;

3. SEA is top-10 in both offense and defense, and healthy (except for their RB2). I think most / all the big AI platforms are picking SEA to beat NE / cover the 4.5 point spread.

4. (Personal) I again will be turning my TV off for the half-time show. I did so a few years ago, for the "celebration" of rap and hip-hop, too.

5. (Personal) I think SEA will win, and cover the spread. With that being said - all bets are off, if NE get turnoverS, and bonus if they score off one. Also: SEA needs to assign a "spy" on Maye any 3rd-and-long, or key down / play, so Maye won't extend drives with his legs.

On a personal level, I am not especially invested in either direction with this Super Bowl. Last year, I very much did not want KC to get a third straight so I was reasonably dialed in. I guess I would rather see Darnold get a ring than the Patriots organization win another one so I will be pulling for Seattle. You heard here first.

I chalk up number 2 as the Vikings fault. They are a cursed franchise. You mixed up Sam Bradford and Sam Darnold. btw. All good though.
