That triangular UFO which is famous and was featured in X-files was really one of many in a long line of prototypes created by the USAF.

- The stealth bombers still being deployed today are in reality obsolete and have been for years.
- Prototypes are only built because this is most cost effective way, Can be mass produced if actually seriously needed.
- Russia and maybe even China have the Stealth technology after one was shot down during the kosovo air campaign.
- Everything else is just also to award defense contracts that employs folks and also making use of already tried and tested, Cost effective technology. They arent necessarily mass producing the very best that they can take for example the Euro fighter and the Raptors....Awesome fighters but I bet they could better.
- NASA itself nevermind the DOD messed around alot with VTOL and other aviation technologies in the nevada desert, This was like in the 70s. And thats only what was made public.
