Kind of difficult to read that and not think we have been and still are engaged in empire building, almost since our inception.I was also someone who thought the claims about Iraq made by the administration prior to our invasion were just ridiculous "big lies".And also thought that like vietnam it would be whats known as a quagmire.But I really think the neocons think that is entirely acceptable and are probably disappointed the general population is not more supportive and willing to pay the price they see as neccesary for the US to maintian its out of whack with its size consumption of resources.

The option then is to say things like, "those who are not with us are against us", or, "you are either for freedom or against it", as though their words and ideas carry some divine but esoteric meaning and all those who don't support bad or future equally superficial statements aren't patriotic enough. You don't have a choice, it's like asking, "Do you still beat your wife"?
