^Only being picky. Yes, the East Coast is currently on EDT, the time after you "spring-ahead" an hour. EST is the other time of the year. No one is currently on EST, which was asked for before. Sorry everyone...

The point is, if you are on Eastern time, the game will start at 2:30 EDT. If you're in Hawaii, 8:30 a.m. local time. ;)

Well, Lily Munster makes sense, as her dad (Grandpa) is a count. A werewolf is a result of a mixed marriage between a vampire and a Frankenstein monster...you should've caught that.

This interracial, or better yet, interspecial relationship is pretty much America in a nutshell. ...And I know, in my heart of hearts, that this very reason alone explains "why soccer isn't popular in America"!

Ah, I didn't know that Rico. (Not the time changes of course) I just thought it was always referred to as est. And I've lived here most of my life.

So soccer isn't popular in America because?

I think that question has kinda played itself out Ice. No thread stays in a straight line forever. And this ones been going on for a long time. How many times do you want the same answers? And to be honest bud, just cause you started the thread doesn't really mean its your property. Just let it flow and all these noobs we have will be here repeating the same stuff that's already been said.

Actually, the way this thread went off track speaks to why soccer isn't popular in America. Americans really don't care, especially after the U.S. was eliminated. And even moreso, after the World Cup is over.

This proves my theory all along: Americans would rather bash gays than care about soccer.

I think it is odd you bring these two up. Tell me, which sport is it that fans riot over when their teams lose or win? Which sport is it that, if you let down your team at the World Cup, you could end up being murdered for when you return home? Just because we are not fans of soccer doesn't mean we don't understand passion in sports.

good point.

Maybe the reason we don't like it is because it seems everytime soccer fans wonder why we don't like it they treat us like we're retarded?

you gotta understand, why the hell the northamericans are different for the rest of the 5000 millions of soccer-lovers in the planet? WHY, DEAR LORD, OH WHY ?

Soccer will never be a dominant sport in America

So soccer/futbol fans worldwide, don't take it as insult that Americans don't worship soccer the way you do. Everyone has their likes and dislikes. That's really just fine. You do you, and we'll do what we do.

Why the United States doesn't take to soccer

I think it has to do with several things.

1. The big four sports in North America were all invented in North America. It only makes sense that we prefer sports that we ourselves came up with, right?

2. Canada and the United States are two of the richest countries in the world, so we can afford to play our sports. Most countries in the world are rather poor, so the only sport they can play involves one ball and a couple of cans to use as goal posts. There certainly are people playing soccer in North America, but tell me, who will win at the World Cup: a country where soccer is a niche sport, or a country that has people who's only entertainment is soccer?

3. In most of the continent, the climate makes it hard to play soccer. You only have a couple of months a year to play soccer in the summer, and during those few months it competes with baseball and football.
