Nice loaded set of poll options.... ridiculous.

I'd say the answer is something close to this - neoliberalism (and please, if you honestly don't know what it is - it ain't Nancy Pelosi, Al Franken, or Michael Moore for fuck's sake - check the link and read up):

Piss poor decisions and investments by the banking sector. Now the parties over and the banks are having to try and regain their losses. Unfortunately, a lot of this is being done by withdrawing credit facilities from businesses, some of which were operating on such a fine line that without bank credit they go bust. Only the strongest survive!

The morons who voted for George W Bush
The criminal assholes on the Supreme Court who stopped the recount so they could install this jackass as president
The idiots that supported this war in Iraq

You can't spend a trillion dollars on a war without more money coming in and expect your country to stay afloat. It's all GWB's fault. Don't Obama, Mccain or anybody else if things don't turn around quickly. GWB and those who installed him as president are to blame for this situation.:yinyang:

the fact of favoring a cheap and unqualified labor workforce with a low cost abroad instead of keeping a highly qualified and productive workforce.

Is somewhere outhere.
Big corporations are looking for cheaper labour. In the UK,factories
are shutting left, right and centre and moving over to the former
Eastern Block,as it's cheaper to do the work there.I guess it's just
the signs of the times.

So what's the reason behind all the work disappearing, leading to high unemployment levels in the western world?

Unmetered insourcing of cheap third world sweatshops into America (so that "expensive, benefit demanding Americans can be fired for the most trivial of infraction)

Unmetered outsourcing of manufacture (so, via dirt cheap lobor costs, the CEOs can become all the wealthier)

Love of country seemingly has been substituted for the adoration and accumulation of exorbitant wealth. Both democrats and republicans are equally guilty of expanding this transformation to oligarchy.

We can blame ourselves. It's not like this financial crisis came out of nowhere. We did it to ourselves and have nobody else to blame for it.

Nicely stated and well measured.

The eastern bloc countries are going bankrupt, btw.

Interesting that most of you blame the companies for employing people willing to work for less, or finding another country to bring costs down. It seems like good business sense to me.

On a personal level, I've seen hundreds, maybe thousands of jobs removed by machines that do the work better, faster and therefore cheaper than people can. Robots that stack boxes perfectly at high speed, forklifts that move around safely and never sneak off for coffee or a smoke, tractors that do in one day what a person could not do in a year. Yet off the top of my head I can think of just eight local jobs that have been "lost" to foreigners, and this probably because the British people thought the job was beneath them.

One more thing: wouldn't the Iraq, or any war really, be a help to the economy? All those companies making guns, missiles, ammo, vehicles and whatnot must keep quite a few places going, and without it wouldn't all those workers plus thousands of soldiers simply be at home collecting benefits? :wave2:

what the fuck you lookin at?

not when we waste 12 billion a month. what the fuck? Use that money here in america for something. Fuck Iraq. We got saddam, why are we still there?

investing in the military doesn't help the economy because soldiers don't spend money. If you are shipping out to Iraq next week are you going to buy a new car first? fuck no.

I'd rather give that money to soldiers and related companies than lazy people who can't be bothered to work. I don't know if you have the same level of benefits and benefit fraud in America, but here in Britain if you have kids you're better off on the dole than in a low paid job.

Surely their families spend the money for them (spouse, kids etc) or they spend it when they get home. I can't see that there's much to buy in a war zone. Except hookers. :wave2:

Who Do You Blame For Job Losses?

it ain't Nancy Pelosi
Agreed ! If anything, Nancy P. creates jobs with her tax payer obligation, $100,000.00 trips (each direction) back and forth from the east to west coast every week !
I wish that I could work in Awashington DC and manufacture nonsensical bureaucratic obligations for the broken taxpayers and be able to fly home to Sanfrisco every Friday and still be able to get home before 5PM. :thefinger

Additional Honorable Mention Job "Lossers" Include -
Globalism and the concept of a world economy
• North American Free Trade Agreement (NAFTA)
• General Agreement on Tariffs and Trade (GATT)
Georges Soreohhs for hedging everything imaginable
Warren Buffett for being a guy who hates paying for labor costs.
(Mr. Outsource himself ?)
george bush for being an acquiescent liberal socialist in disguise

•The law that forces hospitals to treat illegal aliens . . it's bankrupting hospitals.

and that christian - muslim - commy,
President BO
, a marxist idealist, isn't helping with jobs either !

H1B Visa instead of just Green Cards ...

Although I do wish Rep. Pelosi would be more frugal, she is no different than those before her. She is 2nd in line of succession to the Presidency after the Vice President. She should have a dedicated, long-haul aircraft to ensure a functioning government should the two in front of her come to pass, especially in an emergency.

I'm just saying that's a bit overplayed. And it has nothing to do with my fondness for her physically.

DC itself is heavily, self-sustaining, Democrat-left because it's such non-sense.

No, H1B Visas are the biggest issue in this country.

Modern, indentured servitude via H1B Visa where ...
- The "guest worker" cannot leave the company
- The company pays less to the "outsourcing contractor"
- Which the "outsourcing contractor" then overseas to the "foreign contractor"
- Which the "foreign contractor" actually pays the "guest worker"
- Which is now way, way, way, way less than the "fair market rate"

Yet, if we just treated the "guest worker" like an "immigrant" with a Green Card ...
- The "immigrant" would be able to change jobs
- The "immigrant" would demand the same wages as Americans
- The "immigrant" wouldn't be hired unless there actually weren't qualified Americans
- The "immigrant" would be allowed to become an American, helping our talent pool

The "excuse" used for H1B Visa is that there aren't enough Americans who are qualified. No, most H1B Visas are issues to save money, and the "guest worker" isn't paid shit, and can't leave the job without being kicked out of the US (or getting another "sponsor" who is already working with the "outsourcing contractor").

With Green Cards, immigrants only come when there aren't enough qualified Americans, or uniquely qualified immigrants. Otherwise the American companies wouldn't hire them, as they can't get away with underpaying them like they do H1B Visa.

We used to "import" the world's top 10%. Now we seem to import anyone who is cheaper with H1B Visa, and we get a lot of crap. And even when we do get good guys/gals, they are so underpaid after the triple-dip.
