The 'Ole Commodore 64, the POS that it was and the huge Floppy's :1orglaugh

First computer I used was at School and it was those Commodore 64 and then the Apple II.

First one I ever owned? Check these specs:

Pentium 90
8MB of ram
1.1G Hard-drive
No NIC, 19.2 (or something in that range, basically a 14.4kps) kps modem.
Came with Buttons for DOS, Windows 95, Magic Carpet and a whole bunch of random software.

I thought it was pretty fast. Good old Compaq Presario 1400.

Coleco Adam, m65xx series like most everything else (outside the PC), 80KiB RAM, integrated tape, totally sucked except for the ColecoVision attached.

I moved to the PC rather quickly, and my first, owned PC was the PCjr.

Pong.
But a computer computer?
Commodore 64. It took me 6 or 7 hours just to type up a happy birthday song for my then girlfriend.
Yikes!

My ****** had an old TRS series computer that hooked up to the TV. I later had a Tandy 1000 with dual 5 1/4 floppy drives, 4 meg of Ram...no hard drive.

My first 'real' computer was a Packard Bell 386. It had 16 meg of Ram, a 80 megabyte hardrive, one 5 1/4 floppy and one 3 1/2 floppy.

I had the original Sinclair with only 8 kbytes of ram. Learned programming on my high school computer which used Mark Sense (punch cards). Learned nifty things like how to make naked women using the alphabet.

Ah the ZX81 a mate had one too.

Nikkala made me do it!
TI99/4A here ... learned how to type on that sucker! :computer:

Used punch cards at school, as well as learning COBOL & BASIC (computer languages)....

Spectrum ZX 48k

Although my username comes from the first computer I used on the internet, an Amstrad pc1640 (it had a full 640k of ram!).

I take it you know Amstrad is named after it's founder (Alan Sugar)?

Alan Michael Sugar Trading

Mine was the Sinclair ZX Spectrum 48K.A small litte black number with a rubber keyboard. You use to have to connect it up to a tape recorder to load up games. It was very basic to use and the programing was a joke by standards now day's.But the games was very playable with blocky graphic's.
My school used to use the BBC computer

Me too exactly:glugglug:

I was reading through this thread and was thinking "am I the only one?"
I eventually "upgraded" to the C64

LOL...oldtimers I guess, ain't we!!!???

I actually never upgraded from the VIC-20 until the IBM 8086 series came along in the mid-to-late '80s so it was a long stretch. Didn't miss much though since a computer back then was nothing more than an amusing novelty. Now, it's an integral part of my life that I couldn't imagine being without. How times change....and how quickly these days!
