What Are You Reading These Days?

In my free time when I am not watching porn, sleeping, arguing with my parents over the phone, drinking, masturbating, or dare I say fucking a lady friend. I still find about 1/2 to 1 hour of reading time before going to sleep. So my question is, what are you reading these days? Currently I am re-reading "The Professor and the Madman: A Tale of Murder, Insanity, and the Making of the Oxford English Dictionary" which is a great true story of how the OED was created.

There are two other threads floating around here about reading. One of mine being a repost. :o

Either way I am currently reading a Burn Notice novel. Pretty decent read so far.

Also reading a couple of H.P. Lovecraft books.

Which Lovecraft books? The Lurking Fear is one of my favorite stories he wrote.

I'm about to start reading the book "The end of poverty" by Jeffrey Sachs which is an Economist, I just hope there aren't many graphs in it. Other than that, someone promised me it's a very good read.

Dream Quest of the Unknown Kadath and The Tomb. It's a collection of his works. I found them at Goodwill.

I am wanting to get into some Star Wars novels but haven't been feeling it lately.

Actually at this time I am reading The China Price, about the true cost of Chinese competitive advantage. Definately an eye opener.

Still working my way through Empires of Trust: How Rome built - and America is building - a new world.

Most modern people see Rome in a pop culture sort of way, connecting it only with Julius and Augustus Caesar, gladiators and Nero, etc. This book takes a harder, more factual look at the time before the Caesars, and compares it to the United States and our relative position in the world.

Not including our Founding Fathers' fascination with and respect for the Roman Republic, there are many other similarties which are amazing. So far... great book!

I actually just read The Shining for the first time ever. So much different than the movie, in a good way. Loved it.

Just placed my next order from Amazon for books, which includes My Horizontal Life: A Collection of One Night Stands by Chelsea Handler, and Night by Elie Wiesel. Can't wait til they get here, hopefully this week. Next on my "to-buy" list are a couple of foodie books by Anthony Bourdain...love that guy.

Stay away from the Star Wars, however if you like a good horror read check out some of Brian Keene's books. He is a mix of Lovecraft and Richard Laymon with a bit of George A. Romero influence mixed in. I suggest The Rising, City of The Dead, The Conqueror Worms, and his last book The Darkness on The Edge of Town is good.
