Tough times in the porn industry

Maybe I'm old-fashioned...or stupid..or both, but here's my overview:

1. I agree with everyone else, it must be Hell to get paid $50K to look good and have sex.

2. I have a very hard time feeling sorry for someone who was earning $150K annually and didn't plan and save their money, instead of using it for a Mercedes-Benz among other things.

3. If she is so worried about taking a cut working for somebody else, why doesn't she work independently?

No shit, the porn business is a fickle business and you're on top one day but tomorrow some new hot chick comes in and takes your place and you're out on your ass so having some financial plan would probably be the smart thing and not blowing it on fancy cars and expensive jewelry. No common sense.

but singers and bands figure out that the money isn't in the album sales, but in the concert tours.

What surprises me is the lack of internet savvy the industry has. Some sites have the free-downloads stopped for registered content and others have water marks. The industry can't complain since sites pop up and make money while others lose. As for the regular days of porn, there are still fans that will buy the DVDs.

Would you take a huge pay cut and continue doing the same job for less money?

Then you'll still have the amature porn because with the advent of stuff like YouTube everybody wants to be a star and in some cases a "porn" star. Porn itself will never die but the current industry model of the way it's distributed and created might.

Honestly hardcore porn has been having issues for a while. They always try and push the limits on what they can shoot. Plus a lot of people in porn think porn stars charge more then they are worth and they can be a pain in the ass to work with. The adult categories that are doing well are webcam sites, amateur porn and solo girl websites. I think people like the interaction with models that all three of those have.

The industry will never die out. The rates that models charge are changing already. There have always been people that thought that rates for certain things were way to high. Plus people reach their prime in adult, and then the demand is not as high for them anymore. I think that is why there are only a small group of real porn stars. Shooting XXX does not make you a porn star, you have to earn that title and only a small group has.

THEY TOOK OUR JOBS!! Unless porn companies are smuggling in Mexicans to do their scenes it's not the same. It's supply and demand at its most basic. As a porn producer you have a choice do you spend the $10,000 or whatever to get one name actress or do you just get several relatively unknown actresses at half the cost? That's the porn industry in a nutshell always trying to find the next "it" girl and that means finding new talent.
