Honky Tonk Man Threatens Lawsuit Against Eric Bischoff

The Honky Tonk Man has posted a message on his website, requesting that the Bubba The Love Sponge show give him a complete recording of the appearance made by Hulk Hogan and Eric Bischoff.

Honky is considering legal action for defamation of character based on statement's Bischoff made.

Prior to this, the Bubba Show requested that HTM remove audio and video from the show that was posted on Honky's website.

Backstage News: Awesome Kong's TNA Status?, & More

We're told the issues between Awesome Kong and Bubba the Love Sponge seem to be resolved after a meeting took place with her, Hulk Hogan and Eric Bischoff.

Kong had initially asked for her release and refused to work the company's UK tour despite being advertised. While they may have not granted her a release, we're told there are still some financial issues between Kong and the company.

According to reports, Kong was said to be touchy when she noticed how much the company was spending on newcomers and how they couldn't afford to give talent already on the roster raises, especially the TNA Knockouts.

As noted earlier, Kong recently put together a group called "Wrestlers 4 Haiti" in order to secure funds for Haiti relief. The group raised $6,000 at a club in Lancaster, Pennsylvania on Jan. 15. She spent two days promoting the event on local radio and with the help of twenty-four wrestlers, managed to raise $3,500. Mick Foley then donated another $2,500 as he made an agreement with Kong to match whatever funds were raised, up to that amount.

I agree, the Knockouts bring in the ratings and they are not getting raises?

Impact: Joe wants the gold; The band is out of synch

Samoa Joe is back and is on a quest for gold. Also, the tension between Kurt Angle and Hulk Hogan continues to escalate, as does the ongoing feud between Eric Bischoff and Mick Foley. And what does the future hold for Scott Hall and 6 Pac?

This week’s edition of Impact is appropriately titled “the breaking of the band.” One can only hope.

Interestingly enough, the opening video package still contains footage of Jeff Hardy, who has yet to be seen since.

TNA does not waste any time for once getting the show off and running with the first match.

I thought TNA was pretty good last night. A few good matches and a great promo between Foley and Bischoff. The band turning on Nash surprised me. Not easy to do!

I didn't even see that match. WCW decided to get slick and show the Knockouts match towards the end of the show but once that was off so went WCW. Even though my tv was on tuned into most of the show I didn't even watch until the Knockouts match. I was on the Internet and reading a book until Tara and Angelina Love faced off.

Scott Steiner & TNA Part Ways?

It would appear that Scott Steiner has parted ways with TNA as his bio was removed from the company website last night.

Steiner's status with the company has been in question for months. In fact, he met with TNA talent relations director Terry Taylor on Jan. 5 to discuss his future with the company. He has not been used since.

It should be noted that a few days before her passing on Jan. 25, Georgiann Makropoulos reported Steiner expressing his displeasure towards the organization in front of fans at the Orlando hotel the wrestlers were staying at for that's week television tapings.

EXCLUSIVE: Big Update on Jeff Hardy's Current WCW Status
by Nick Paglino
Feb 07, 2010

According to a source within WCW, Jeff Hardy is telling people that he's still "supremely confident" that he will get out of the current legal mess he's in, and if he does, he's headed to WCW.

When Hardy debuted with WCW back on the live, January 4th Impact special, the deal was for one night only despite reports claiming that he had signed some type of extended contract with the company.

However, Hardy's agent is still negotiating with WCW, and Jeff fully expects to be a full-time member of the WCW roster if/when his legal situation clears up.

Report: Beer Money Inc. Frustrated w/ TNA Wrestling

Beer Money, Inc. (James Storm and Robert Roode) have been expressing their frustration to people backstage after they received word that TNA creative director Vince Russo said he didn't see them as top stars. Actually, Russo said that they were expendable, but a source notes that he may have been trying to send the outspoken Storm a message.

Storm was said to be very upset with Beer Money, Inc.'s limited role on the live Monday Night iMPACT! on Jan. 4. In one scene, they were shown shaking hands with Ric Flair upon his arrival to the Impact! Zone. Later that night, they were shown selling a beat down from an unidentified assailant.

It should be noted that there is no noticeable friction between the duo and Russo as observers say they get along fine backstage.

Report: Hulk Hogan & Eric Bischoff Upset With Sting

Hulk Hogan and Eric Bischoff appeared on The Bubba the Love Sponge Show last Friday for a combination work/shoot interview segment that included one new piece of news, which was Bischoff knocking Sting for missing the last set of television tapings.

Sting missed last month's Genesis pay-per-view and subsequent television tapings due to a family emergency, though it remains unclear what is was exactly. What is known is that nobody is questioning its legitimacy considering that he has been in the wrestling industry for years and has never had a reputation for coming up with excuses to miss dates.

Bischoff said that everyone in TNA has to be completely committed to the organization or things won't work out, with Hogan adding he doesn't see how they can use anyone missing shows. Internally, it was noted as a message being sent to Sting, though it's unlikely he'll get it considering that he pays no attention to the wrestling business except on days when he's working as he doesn't follow it online. Nonetheless, the belief was Sting had a very legitimate reason for missing the last set of shows.

Bischoff said, "Sting's a great talent. Love him to death. My problem is now that we're trying to do this big picture. I understand how big picture it is for the wrestling business. Sting had life-and-death personal issues, but from a business side, it totally screws us up. If at any time that happens, I got a personal issue, now we have to switch gears on who we use, you can't build the world around them. Everybody has got to make a commitment. It's easy to say we want TNA to be No. 1, but if you're not willing to put TNA as a priority above almost every situation, then it's probably not going to work out."

Backstage Update On Jay Lethal & TNA Wrestling

There was some eye rolling in the TNA locker room when Hulk Hogan and The Nasty Boys had a laugh at the expense of X Division star Jay Lethal.

Jerry Sags openly questioned how long TNA will keep him employed and laughed at the audacity of his "Black Machismo" character. Apparently in a tongue in cheek tone, Hogan later cracked during an appearance on The Bubba The Love Sponge Show that TNA should bring in Randy Savage to manage Lethal.

Report: Hulk Hogan Frustrated Backstage

Despite the positive spin he's putting on TNA in media interviews, Hulk Hogan has been complaining to friends that he's frustrated with several things in TNA. Hogan feels pressure to push people he does not believe in, namely, some of the TNA originals.

Word is that Dixie Carter doesn't want the TNA originals to be buried by Hogan's buddies, but there are some TNA originals that Hogan sees nothing in and wants to get rid of.

Hogan is said to be a big fan of Abyss as well as Tomko, saying at least both men look like wrestlers.

Hernandez: Heading to Mexico?

Credit: PWTorch.com

TNA officials have spoken to the Mexican-based AAA promotion about sending Hernandez for an extended stay.

While this idea has come up in the past, there are some who feel he could become a legitimate star in Mexico. On the other hand, others fear Mexican wrestling fans could turn on him once they discover that he doesn't speak Spanish particularly well.

For those curious, Hernandez is of Mexican and Puerto Rican descent.

This was probably an idea from Hogan and Bishoff.
