I know very well what happened during the Reagan administration and I am also aware what caused the attempted assassination of Reagan. But fact is that under his presidency, a lot of people had jobs and were able to live decently. While I don't fully agree with either of you, , there is blindness on both sides of the aisle. I can take shots at Republicans, and I do, without negative feedback, but when I see shots being taken at the Democrats I see bipartisan being thrown out. It may or may not be pedestrian, but it is clearly blind biased to always take that stance. It is limiting.

I see a few other members on the board who have a similar view to me - to hold both sides accountable. I rarely see shots being fired at them from the right when they do that? What does that say? I'm not really sure it says anything, but it is interesting.

Georges, I think I get what you're saying and while I don't agree with everything you're saying and I tend to identify myself as a Democrat, when I read the financial papers from London, Berlin, and Paris they seem to consider the US Democrats as being conservative as well.

I personally don't blame Reagan exclusively. I'm not a Supply Sider, but you can't tell me that strategy was implemented anyway. His opposition had the opportunity to stop things and they didn't. The debt is higher than it was and the unemployment rate is still high nearing 10%. Another clinton screw up was failed operation in Mogadisciu in 1993. Of course the economy hasn't fully recovered if we are trillions of dollars of debt and still have high unemployment. Just saying that there's blame to be attributed to administrations going back to the 80's, some more than others.Yes, the NDAA and ACTA are bad decisions made by Obama, as well as extending the Bush tax cuts IMO. The administration opposed PIPA and I doubt that will come to pass.

Sure removing Saddam is a bright side and was a in a sense good for many Iraqis (and Iran), but define "necessity". The U.S. can't just send troops to overthrow people that aren't necessarily a clear and imminent threat to us. Now we're debating on Iran based on the same conjecture. Overall, it was not worth it IMO.
