What about all the firearm owners who did commit crimes today? Would they have done so if there were much more heavily enforced/regulated laws about gun possession?

Criminals will get their hands on guns no matter how tough the laws are. They already are. Christ, they could easily get them via Mexico (because we do NOTHING to stop illegals from crossing the border with their drugs and weapons.) Plus, criminals within the U.S. rig and game the system to get their hands on guns ... legally! It happens in every state in this country. If we outlawed guns and repealed the Second Amendment (no matter how archaic that amendmet may be), there are hundreds of millions of guns in the U.S., right now, that would flood the black market and turn two-bit thugs into wealthy crime lords -- not all that differently from the gangsters during the Prohibition era. While I do not own a gun myself, I like to know there is an option to get one to protect my family when city streets turn into the Wild fucking West.

So Windsor, in Canada, is immediately across the border from Detroit. With Canada's gun laws, Windsor had 2 homicides with guns last year. How many do you think Detroit had? Yes, it is a bigger city, but they are in about the same state of unemployment, financial crisis, etc. These are comparable cities. Different gun laws had a direct impact on the type of crime that happened there.

Is Windsor crime free? No. Gun crimes are not, however, a major problem there.

Sam has always been a good guy to me personally ... and I try to stand up for my friends. I'm saddened that you don't know Sam the way I do and, therefore, you don't like him. I can understand why you disagree with his methods, but he really is a decent fella and I don't think he's trying to be a troll, IMO. He has strong convictions and shares them ... vigorously. During Reagan's two terms of presidency, the USA has reached a level prosperity and economic growth that were not matched by the Clinton nor the Obama's administrations. Not to mention that Bill was a liar under oath, an UN ass kisser, and failed to react during three Al Quaeda attacks: 1st wtc bombing in 1993, bombing of the US Ambassy in Nairobi in 1997 and bombing of the USS Cole in 1999. Also we shouldn't forget the clinton AW ban which thanksfully ended. The deficit spending trend started with Reagan and is wholly responsible for the current sorry state of the economy. If you want to blame terrorist attacks on the commander-in-chief, I suggest you educate yourself about the attacks that occurred during the Reagan administration. Here you go, you can lay those at the feet of St. Ronnie. The AW weapon ban was initiated with the Brady Bill which originated as a result of the attempted assassination of Ronald Reagan.
