Good win by Vettel in Brazil... good in that he jumped poor ol' Bottas at the start (Valteri is weak sauce). But an amazing drive by Hamilton, from a pitlane start to the lead for awhile and an eventual 4th (almost 3rd, if his tires hadn't given up at the end). Also, an exciting drive by my second favorite driver, Danny Ric, finishing 6th after encountering ping-pong racers during the opening laps. Very good race, IMO. But a real shame about the major security concerns before and after the race. The crime situation in Sao Paolo, for the teams and for the residents, is REALLY unfortunate.

Good sum up of the race. I missed most of it and had to rely on the highlights reel.

Abu Dhabi - The season is almost over, and in the desert city, there is another modern classic. I like the track setup, and I think that there will be a good portion of overtaking others in this one. Especially on that monster of a straight, where the fastest cars can use their superiority.

That's it, the season is done, and it was a nice final race

Good run by Bottas to redeem himself. IMO, something of a half-hearted run by Hamilton. Course, he had nothing to gain, except another win for the record book... but still. And Vettel, that had to be his quietest run to a podium that I can remember in awhile. But overall, a very decent race, I thought. My big thing was seeing the NBCSports crew say goodbye. And it sounded like David Hobbs was retiring (or being retired) from broadcasting. He's been my "F1 pal" on Sunday mornings for decades.

So long, Davey. I'm gonna miss you, buddy.

NBC Sports commentator David Hobbs’ broadcasting career essentially is being forcibly ended, as ESPN has secured the rights to air Formula One races starting in 2018. But that’s been a tough pill to swallow. Ahead of the Abu Dhabi Grand Prix, Hobbs said he’s upset that the switch to ESPN means he won’t get to sign off on his own terms, but he’s more bothered by the reason Liberty Media chose to sign a multi-year deal with the network, according to RACER. “It’s a bit galling that my last show is not me retiring, but me being retired,” Hobbs said. “If ESPN or anybody had come along and outbid NBC in a rights war, and we were pushed out by a clearly superior team and deal, that would be one thing. You could say, ‘OK, I guess the best guy’s won.’ But the deal they’ve got is horrible.” Although NBC has had a three-man team of Hobbs, Leigh Diffey and Steve Matchett call every race — apart from the United States, Monaco and Abu Dhabi — from its studio in Stamford, Conn., and only has sent pit lane reporter Will Buxton to provide on-site analysis, ESPN reportedly won’t even do that. Instead, it simply will air the F1 world feed. “They’re not paying any rights fees, they aren’t having any studio shows so there aren’t any production costs,” Hobbs told RACER. “It’s meant to be a generic (broadcast) team from across the ocean. That is irritating, that we’re being ousted by what will be an inferior show. To be pushed out by a pathetic deal, including for the viewer, is sad.” Hobbs expects Sunday’s Abu Dhabi Grand Prix to be emotional for him, given that he’s been commentating “as Leigh’s been alive, and Steve would have been eight when I did my first show.”

Oh my

Here in Germany, RTL has the broadcasting contract, and gladly, they are staying on the job in the long haul

For years in the UK, it was the BBC that broadcast F1 - with Fleetwood Mac's The Chain as the iconic introduction music and Mr F1, Murray Walker at the mike.
Sky has it now with Martin Brundle as the main commentator, and I have to say that they do a pretty good job. Channel 4 also show some races live but they can't really compete with Sky, who have a dedicated F1 Channel.

Had SKY (Thern: Premiere), too, for a year, back in 2002. Can't remember the commentators, but their options and the permanent streaming instead commercial-break-ridden portions were great

It was a great season until Ferrari imploded at Singapore, you had the Mercs who were free to race and take point off each other on one side and Ferrari moving the occasionally quick Raikkonen aside for Vettel on the other. In the end the gap between Hamilton and Vettel was 46 points. Even if Hamilton had finished 2nd to Vettel in Singapore (unlikely IMO) that's 7 points less for Hamilton and 25 more for Vettel which cuts the difference to 14 points. When you factor in reliability as well, perhaps Vettel would have been champion if that had been even. Instead this season Hamilton won in a very similar fashion to Rosberg the previous year, by being very consistent and having a bulletproof car.

I'm excited to see how the Halo shakes things up next year, its clearly made every team go back to the drawing board and who knows, its this kind of change that leads to a team like Brawn winning from nowhere. McLaren for the title?

Yes, those new features, I find the "HALO" concept absolutely essential, and the drivers will adapt and begin to enjoy it in short time. What else will the new owners of F1 cook up over winter? I am sure they will throw in some bold new things to try and spice up the soup again.

While I'm hopeful that Liberty will make improvements to the sport that we all love, this particular move seems rather pointless and silly to me. A COMPLETE waste of time. Plus = :flaccid:

Yeah, that's SOOOOOO much better than this:

Get us better coverage, better sounding engines, better aero rules and Porsche to take the pace of Ferrari if Sergio takes his red toys and goes home.

Oh yeah, and leave the damn grid girls alone. If some whiny, tight ass feminists are o-ffended by them, hey guess what, they don't and won't watch F1 anyway!

Wrapped it up quite well! I am wary f wha the new owners might cook up in the next attempt to add entertainment value to the sport.

Ultimately, a key issue must be to make rules for the cars and engies etc.that 1. all teams can work with and create packaes that can really compete, and 2. not dulldown the creativity of builders to come up with brand new ideas that are moving the sport forward, still are "legal"

Now let's enjoy some great racing!
