I've always wondered why the Bible,Koran and any other religoius pieces
can not get updated like Windows does every week

I think God should look into it :hatsoff:

They were updated thousands of times. Over and over, old men's fairy tales that were written hundreds of years after the alleged incidents. How reliable is this?

since every religion/belief/doctrine is interpreted and reinterpreted so many different ways, it always amazes me that people believe in any interpretation but their own

All I can say is I disagree strongly with many religious viewpoints but to counter that there are many valuable messages which can be picked up through many / most religions and their doctrines. Nearly all religions have very strong faults against them IMHO though.

Having something to believe in, in itself, isn't a bad thing as long as you don't push it on others. It's the people that interpret the religion to try to control others that need a good lashing.

100% agree. Its those that use religion as a tool of control, intolerance & for their own power that need to be brought to task, or "bashed" as this thread title suggests. If you have a religious faith & take comfort from it who could argue against it? & to say that religious people are weak is nonsense, there have been countless examples of those ******** to death rather than recant their faith. Would all atheists have such strength?

There's a difference between a twisted religion as you put it & religion being the source of morality, as you also put it. . .

& you cannot imply something without realising it, but someone else reading the text in question can infer something that the writer never implied. . .

Yes, religion is a great moral compass, if used as intended. Just as it's not meant for an excuse blanket, it also shouldn't be used as tool of judgement. It simply teaches a set path for everyone and how to keep on the path of enlightenment, righteousness, and positivity in life, by using examples and providing stories of life situations. The morals and teachings ring true even today, and whether you believe they really happened, I believe, is irrelevant. Religion also teaches that not everyone will get it or accept it, and that is their choice. With every choice there is a consequence, especially those rooted in rejection and negativity, as you will reap what you sow. It's a concept and a truth that will never go away.

It's like my grandmother used to say: People don't want to hear about God, but people don't want to go to the doctor either. You'll be going to them before they come to you.
