The End of the TSA?

Mayhem

I'm Canadian. I don't know jack about Gingrich or American politics. All I know is that flying into and throughout the US can be a nightmare for many people who don't deserve the kind of treatment they get. TSA agents who abuse their authority should be punished...and regular protocol should continue (although I firmly believe what they're doing now isn't doing anything to keep jackasses off flights - the system they have in place isn't effective in the slightest - but thats another can of worms)

No, that is the can of worms. You have just encapsulated the very point of this thread. They are costly, they are worthless, they abuse their positions, they are ineffective. Bingo!

Here's an idea. Instead of continuing with something that doesn't work, and doesn't even look good on paper, let's do something better. And let's design it so that these passengers who we are so passionate about keeping safe, don't have their rights or dignity infringed. Let's make it so it is cost effective and paid for by the actual airline traveller instead of the taxpayer. And let's make it so that the next time you have a problem at an airport, you can take your grievance to a company instead of the government.

Is that too frikkin' much to ask for?
