The End of the TSA?

Mayhem

And those private companies won't pat people down??Or...I'm sorry, molest people down?

They know that if they cross the line, it is exponentially easier for the passenger to sue the hell out of them than it is for the passenger to sue the TSA/DHS/US Gov.

You're acting like us anti-TSA people are anti-security. Quite the contrary, old chap. I want people to be safe on airlines too. But enough is enough. Women/girls/boys do not need to be felt up to keep your airborne ass alive, and you're smart enough to know that. Honestly, I think this whole shoe removal thing is a load of shit, but I resign myself that it's never going to change.

I'll also say this. The TSA presence changes from airport to airport. The majority of my post-911 travelling experience has been through Sea-Tac Airport. The sheer fucking numbers of these people boggles the mind. Entire platoons of them, standing around, looking for all the world like a bunch of junior high schoolers hanging out between classes.

It never should have happened and it's even more galling, coming from a Repub president, completely cancelling out the small government/more liberty platform of his party.

I'm not concerned with the politics of it, and I'm not pro TSA. I just don't want weapons on planes. If this stops it, than it gets my stamp of approval. If a little kid cries or a mom gets mad, oh well. Blame the people that hijack and kill. Necessary evil. If some guy feeling up my mom means that my mom will be safe, it's not a hard choice. These people don't have to fly.

it sure is and they don't just go outside the clothes, they go in the pants now too in many cases

Good!

“Those who desire to give up freedom in order to gain security will not have, nor do they deserve, either one.” - Benjamin Franklin

I'd rather face the dangers of being free

Getting patted down is giving up freedom now?

Some people's kids.

Assuming the TSA is shut down and private companies do come in for airport security, I don't believe you and people like you will be satisfied. New security will still pat you down, you'll still call it groping, and you'll be whining on message boards just like you are now. Then you'll want them shut down, wash, rinse, repeat. Or they won't pat down and we'll have another catastrophe on our hands. But I guess losing thousands of lives is the cost of freedom. amirite?

I would have a lot fewer objections to the TSA if it were effective....it isn't. Personally, I have smuggled a contraband item (a pocketknife) on board literally dozens of flights and NEVER ONCE has it been detected. It's ridiculously easy. If I....a traveling businessman....have thought of how to get away with it, do you think there is any chance in hell that the terrorists haven't?

Besides, hijacking planes is so passe'. I would think that something more ubiquitous (like a shopping mall or school) will be the target next time....if for no other reason than to display how vulnerable we truly are. I dread the day it happens and fervently hope that it doesn't.

Is that what Americans do? Just cry "(blank) amendment" whenever they feel like it? I don't think these searches are unreasonable. Anyway...I'm done. You won't be happy until you can walk onto a plane with a fake moustache and c4 strapped to your kid without being given a second glance.

I'm sure there were people in the beginning stages of Nazi Germany who said the exact same thing

yeah I am sure of it, just like I'm 100 percent sure that at the end of the holocaust when the women were ordered into the pits with their children AND WILLINGLY COMPLIED they were shot in the back of the head and it all started with "papers please"

You're absolutely right!! Beware the evil regime!!! Beeewaaaaaaaaaaaaaare!!!!

You know, the Isrealis don't have an intrusive TSA like we do, yet there hasn't been a successful hijaking of El Al airplanes in decades. I wonder how they do it....

(of course I know how they do it and all I'm saying is it seems to be working very well)

At the begining I was rather supportive of the TSA as I understand the need for security but as time went by it seemed like the screeners now had a developed some kind of bureaucratic mindset. Like instead of using common sense they sort of seem to be going through a mental checklist of "the passenger does this, this and this and not causing a scene, I grab that, that and....ahem, that, and he's not carrying that, that or that, he's all clear" even if he's carrying a pocket knife like Jagger said up there, which should be a bigger no-no than my bottle of shampoo and, no, they haven't taken my shampoo away, I always put it with the checked luggage, but if there weren't so many rules about what I can bring aboard and what not I wouldn't have a need to check any luggage in the first place. In other words, instead of being free to use their instict or a hunch as in "that guy with the ticking turban seems nervous, I have a hunch he's got something, I better take him for a closer inspection" it's more like, go down the checklist and if nothing comes up, let him go and "oh, granny over there has a wheelchair that can be an IED, I better strip search her" in order to avoid offending someone's sensibilities.

if anything the TSA is good for weeding out degenerate criminals, its amazing how many of them have been arrested for stealing, rape and a few homicides among other crimes

I can't wait to die in a bombed plane because some people whine about being patted down. I hope they're on the same plane as me.
I feel the exact same way. Right before the plane crashed, I'd take the opportunity to ask them if their opinions on airline safety had changed. I would also remind them that the TSA is a necessary evil in keeping passengers safe. And like any other organization, they are going to occasionally make mistakes. However, what does not get publicized or talked about are the millions of people who go through their screening process without so much as a hitch.

Anyone who thinks that we are better off without the TSA or some other safety organization is a fucking moron. Yes, I'm talking to you. If you believe that we don't need the TSA (or something like it) you are a fucking moron. This is not up for debate. This is not an opinion. This is a fact. If you think it's a good idea to just let people on to a plane without checking them for any type of weapons or explosive devices, you're a naïve fucking moron. I feel bad for your obvious low level of intelligence and common sense, but you're still a fucking moron.

That is all.

anyone who feels the need to grope down little kids everyday at the airport in the name of security is a moron
Grope, no. Pat down, yes.

Do you think terrorists would be above strapping weapons to children if we stopped patting them down? Oh look, your naïveté is showing...
