i never saw the show before last night.
i read nothing about the storyline.
I did watch the first 2 episodes of season 1 last night.
I thought it was ok, but not that great.
a little slow and not much happened.
cant even really pick up a story besides a bunch of cops and lawyers trying to bust a
dealer selling some un named drug.

so my question, does it get better?

Hell yeah. And being pro 'you know' I'm sure you'll get a huge kick out of this show. :2 cents:

I was probably hooked by episode 3 or 4. What makes The Wire so good is the depth of the characters, and that you root for people on all sides of the law. There is not a single one-dimensional character on the show, and characters that you think are minor bit players right now will become huge later on. If you can't dig it half way through the first season, you probably won't like it.

FYI the unnamed drug is heroin.

I fully endorse this being "the best show ever" I still hold every show I watch by the standards of "The Wire" experience, the characters are amazing, and if you haven't already felt it or noticed they are quite addicting as you will see what I am talking about as you get further and further into the SERIES known as "The Wire"

If you are still watching season 1, your gonna get hooked/addicted to it, which will continue too get more intense with each episode, and each season. :2 cents:

All I can say is carry on, Season 2 changes gears big time / dramatically, I don't know if you'll like it more than season 1 or not as much?

In regards to your (side note) Slang is Slang, MF'er is a commonly used expression between homeys/friends/partners almost as much as it is used in aggression towards a person that is disliked, the context between the 2 is totally different, as is the tone and the way its said amongst friends apposed to the way its said towards foes, but commonly used, the suck my dick is primarily only said in anger towards foes mostly!! very little of "suck my dick" is said amongst friends, I'd say its used very rarely amongst friends, its very inappropriate, frowned upon, and "VERY DISSRESPECTFUL" so its said very sparingly and when it is said, almost certain violence is probable and more than likely to follow!!

Furthermore whites sounding like blacks, is controversial in its self, cuz whites use the same slang in the same HOODS as blacks, its more of a point of view, interpretation or the way people view it I guess. :dunno: its a boundary that is walked upon and balanced carefully depending on your location and who your with.

It's not glamorizing or using it as "shock value", in fact as the series progresses the cops in the show begin to look more and more pathetic.

Well, it wasn't directed at you so much as it was an appropriate summation by Q concerning another rambling double talker in another thread. The triple talker is hung up on the notion that someone responding to questions easily obtainable by anyone on the web can determine or refute the personal facts of someone's military background.

Well, he's not hung up so much as he's really just trying a diversion of the topic since those facts weren't on his side.
