Torta, the Mexican answer to the sub, better in just about all ways imaginable.

Love me some Tortas. But have you ever had a Vietnamese sammich? Fantastic. Not the ones with the pork pate, though. Them are repugnant.

We had Father Tadeusz over for dinner last week and I made corn chowder from scratch, creamed spinach (look up Emiril's recipe, it's friggin' awesome. Tiny little bit of nutmeg just before finishing. Really peps it up some.) and Irish pub fish cakes. I used cod because someone pointed out that Tilapia is disgusting.

Take three or four filets and use the Mouton technique. Dredge lightly in flour, salt and pepper and sautee for about three minutes on each side in a little olive oil. Take a couple forks and pull the cooked cod apart into the same consistency as say, canned tuna and chill for an hour or so.

Throw 1/4 onion and two stalks of celery in the food processor (you can add a clove of garlic but it doesn't need it) and pulse it four or five times until pretty well minced. Put the fish, celery and onion in a bowl and add a cup or so of Panko bread crumbs, two eggs and salt and pepper to taste. Mix with your dick skinners until uniform and form into patties. You can refrigerate over night or start cooking right away, I don't see the difference, really.

Fry in a pan on med/high heat with a couple tablespoons of good olive oil. Three minutes on each side should do pretty good. They should come out golden brown and delicious.

Serve with the easy remoulade I mentioned previously.

Great meal.

Saint Hildegaard's nerve cookies for dessert.

Funny you mentioned the cod cakes. 2 weeks ago I used the last of my salted cod from last year. The old Italian guy down the block had just gotten his first batch for the holidays. I had never tried it before so I asked him to pick me out a piece. It was as long as my arm and cost 80 bucks. Did the cakes similar to yours except there was no per-coking the fish since the drying and salting. Cut chunks all year and worth the investment. 12 oz. equals a pound after the soaking process. Gotta wait till November to get another piece. Try it. it's worth the work.

Tonight we went to this place in Beverly Hills on Wishire just west of La Cienega called The Afghani Kabob House. Great food and reasonably priced. The wife got the Combination Beef & Chicken Kabob and I got the Lamb Kabob. The rice you see is called Quabili Rice which is Basmati Rice flavored with chicken broth topped with raisins and shaved carrots. We plan on going back for sure.

Bibigo Fresh Korean Kitchen at the Century City Food Court after watching Justice League. A reviewer on Yelp said it's the Panda Express of Korean Food. Built my own bowl with some Beef Bulgogi plus "the works" veggies over some white rice. Hey, alright!

Roast chicken, rice, and acorn squash. Brownies for dessert. Yum.

Went to Coco’s and had something I call Brinner which is Breakfast for Dinner. Ordered the Triple Mega Breakfast which is 3 eggs, 3 bacon strips, 3 sausage links, 3 pancakes, and hash browns. Washed it all down with 3 cups of coffee.

I love me some brinner....though I don't get it often.

Bob. I will get you that pasta sauce recipe soon. I had a crash on my other computer, so it's not a simple copy and paste....I actually have to think about what I put in it!

But I will get it to you a.s.a.p.

Anyone tried the new "Arbynator" yet? Stacked roast beef on a seaseme seed bun, horsey sauce, Arbys sauce, topped with curly fries and smothered with cheese sauce. Sounds like a roast beef classic cept with curly fries. Looks fantastic.

Sizes are classic, double, and half pounder.

Heck yeah! That looks gosh darn delicious! I wish there was an Arby's closer to me. I live in Westwood and the closest Arby's is East Hollywood.

Tonight we went to Nizam for some great Indian Food ordering the Tandoori Grill appetizer, Naan Bread, Chicken Tikka Marsala, Fish Curry, and Lamb Vindaloo.

Went out to a seafood buffet. It was good as balls. They had snails AND frog legs. That was my second time trying frog legs. I actually think they're pretty good.

A pot of homemade chili with beans. Extra spicy, saltine crackers and washed down with an ice cold refreshing Mountain Dew. Perfect during the ice and snow we have right now. Good goody good good.
