Sounds good 'cept I would have opted out with the tomato, not in a mushroom sauce.
It was time for that lonely tomato to go. Lose it or use it. I needed to purge.
Christmas dinner at my brother's house always has more leftovers than people are willing to take home. Usually I say just make me a plate to be courteous and let others and my host deal with that. Their family are not leftover people since it's only 2 and their kid going back to college. Food will be thrown out and that is a sin to me and a waste to them. This year was a new strategy. I'm going to do his wife a favor (wink wink).
For Christmas I gave her a nice 40 piece set of Tupperware and a cheaper 40 piece set of Rubbermaid. Part guilt for gutting her plastics over the years, part selfish because I love her cooking and want to take more home. So this year instead of putting her through that anguish I said I'd take home anything that might get won't be eaten by someone. Win, win, win. She purged her plastic and filled it up with food for me to take home. She now has new sets for the home that I can begin to rape for coming holidays. With a wink and a nod it was clear she was happy with this arrangement.
Before I get accuses of diverting off the subject, supper was Pepsi ham, garlic string beans, baked and sweet potatoes, apple pie, chocolate pie, Italian pastries, home baked decorated sugar cookies... Not enough time with my edit to list the rest. Yea, much of that stuff came home with me.
