And that is exactly I'm upset. Look, I'm all for making global competition out of sports that aren't necessarily popular or well known in the US, but if NBC is going to make a circus out of these sports, they might as well just do EVERYTHING. I mean why not bowling, frisbee, maybe some broomstick hockey just to mix it up.
I just don't get it. You've got a top three sport in one of the biggest television markets in the world and you're going to get rid of it for what? Soccer has the world cup, the Euro finals and I'm sure they've got more, and baseball has what, the WBC every 4 years? As much as I enjoy the WBC, it's a damn popularity contest. At least the Olympic team usually fields the up and coming guys who have never really made it to the majors. I think it's just a really really dumb move by the IOC, both respect and moneywise.
